Re: Hotel Transylvania 4
Hotel Transylvania 3 was the biggest installment to date, with more than $500 million worldwide.
Addams Family, by comparison, made $200 million worldwide, and couldn't make it to the $100 million mark in the states.
The overall audience reaction to the Hotel T films is an embracement of how warm and fuzzy they are. Addams Family had some parents complaining over the humor being "too much," whether it was Wednesday burying her brother alive or casually using a crossbow. That's all of course in keeping with the spirit of the characters, but with parents today being so obsessed with "role models" and such, I imagine that's why word-of-mouth wasn't especially great for the film (and I assume that's the only reason they've gotten rid of Wednesday's noose pigtails for the sequel--a darn shame since it was a great sight gag!).
Of course, Addams had a fairly modest budget, which is why we're able to get a new one in the first place, but with Amazon now owning MGM I sadly won't be shocked if it ends up both in theaters and on Prime before Halloween comes along this year.

Addams has been around for many generations also with a live action netflix show coming out soon. Don't count it out yet. Plus no sandler for ht this time around.
Also don't forget dune is out that day as well.
But yes i do think ht will do well.

Smart move on Amazon's part though: remove the competition from cinemas so that MGM's Addams has the best shot…

Shame but not surprising. I'll wait for the eventual home video release.

It recently started playing in regular theaters too. Such a weird release pattern...

They still have drive-ins, even with regular theaters now open?

I do want to watch this. I really like this series, and I've heard this movie is a nice conclusion.

If it made it to Blu I'd likely buy and put it next to the 2 and 3 that I still haven’t watched! We did manage to run Sing 2 last night, though, which was a disappointment after the first, which I loved. It was just the same story over again with much lesser classic songs. I’ve decided against the 4K, but may pick up a Blu down the line to see the extras.

Re: Hotel Transylvania 4
My enthusiasm for HT4 dropped with losing the original director and star. Not that I am a Sandler fan, but it does make 4 seem disconnected. I will catch it on Prime, though.
