“Old” (film by M. Night Shyamalan)

Post by ShyViolet » June 1st, 2021, 6:04 pm

Ok I posted the link to the new trailer, but beware it has some spoilers! (The “old” teaser trailer was better! Lol. :P )

What I’ve seen so far has TERRIFIED me. It’s stuff with time/space/paradoxes. Has always been a creepy subject for me. But I still want to see this movie so bad! :o I’ll be going to my first theater showing in a very long time (I think Toy Story 4 was the last!).

Anyway, has anyone else heard of this film?

Shyamalan has gotten better in recent years after releasing some truly atrocious titles. The Visit was great, and Split was even better.

But Glass...I'm still Split on that one.

I liked most of Split, ESPECIALLY McAvoy’s performance, but I hated that wolf-man thing at the end! What in the world was that supposed to be?? In a lot of ways the film addressed MPD very well, but that was just right off the rails. Thriller that’s also a sensitive portrayal of a disease suddenly turns into a monster movie?? Did not like that at all.

Even still, I really want to see Glass as well. I’ve only seen Unbreakable once, years ago, but I remember really loving it. For some reason the ending never bothered me. Every minute was amazing.

You’ve got to hand it to Shyamalan; even with his missteps, he has one heck of an imagination. (Yeah, the Happening was crud, but even to this day I thought it had a fascinating concept.)

Can’t say I’m terrified, but it does look like Night is back on track.

I couldn’t help but thinking, though, that a better, not giving it away, much more M Night kind of mysterious title, would have been...

But then people would think it was Prince of Persia.

...says the guy who just got a movie confused with another one that wasn’t even called that. That’s kinda impossible, ain't it...!? :?

As an aside, we had a new member posting spam today. I deleted their account, and it took me under ten seconds to do so. Wonderfully efficient, the controls us mods have over the forum.

No idea why I'd bring that up now. Just reassuring everyone that when we have a reason to (such as a person, I don't know, resorting to name-calling with those who are in charge of the forum), we have the ability to kick someone's butt off of here forever VERY quickly.

Now before I lose my normally Unbreakable cool (I was Split over posting this), let's please keep another thread-derailment from Happening by following the Signs and getting back on topic, otherwise this will all get Old real fast.

Agreed--And after eating that bad burrito, I can now get back to posting after my Last Airbender.
