And neither the "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian" sequel that Warner wanted to do in the 80's after the original, or the "Beetlejuice in Love" sequel that Tim Burton was holding out for.

And on again with a surprise move. Wednesday actress may join and keaton and burton returning!

Tim Burton, who helmed the 1988 film starring Michael Keaton, is expected to direct, with Keaton returning as well, according to sources. Production is eying a late May or early June shoot in London, but budget has not been set, resulting in a back and forth. If a deal is made, sources say Ortega would play the daughter of Lydia, the character played by Winona Ryder in the original.

Or, they're going the Disenchanted route of making the central character crisis of Mom Lydia not wanting her rebellious daughter to make the same mistakes, since they know that the biggest fans of Beetlejuice are in their forties by now.

Oh, donchaknowit! Single Mom Lydia dealing with unruly daughter back from some kind of gifted Academy ( ) and discovering the Handbook For The Recently Diseased… You’ll be no doubt pleased there are no bagels in this one…

I would love if they brought back and de-aged Alec and Geena.

So looks like its set to start filming in the next few months! That means pre post is done and they are ready to start filming!

Sets and prep has been going on here for the past few months, but it’s a weird one as it has been kind of happening without a clear plan, like they knew they were going to make a sequel but didn’t know when…! There’s been "Beetlejuice starts soon" talk going on for what feels like a year or so! I don’t know why it hasn’t been more widely known…maybe people just got tired or hearing it and then nothing happening, but it seems it’s all go now.

Not sure if there are any Community fans here, but it's one of my favorite sitcoms. They had a long simmering joke. In season one, someone was pretending they didn't remember another character's name:

What's the blonde's name? Bitter? Butter? Beetlejuice?

In season two, a pen goes missing and everyone strips down to their underwear to prove they don't have it. Discussing one of the character's underwear, someone says:

Don't you usually wear those stripey turquoise Beetlejuice numbers?

In season three, someone looks through another's playlist and notes:

There's nothing here but spooky party, the Beetlejuice soundtrack, and NPR podcasts.

After the third mention of his name over three years, someone dressed as Beetlejuice nonchalantly walks past in the background!
