Well that was pretty nice. Got a real H2G2 vibe from the opening!

According to The Sun, Jodie is not leaving after all. Feels fishy and one can never really trust them.

Edit: Yep! They're quoting a Radio Times article from 2019. Very unprofessional.

The BBC has finally confirmed that Jodie is leaving.. as is Chris Chibnall. Now that one is a surprise! I don't think many will miss him, and unless something amazing happens in the remaining episodes, Jodie won't be fondly remembered as a Doctor either. In all honestly she got screwed.

TPTV is an awesome channel! Much old goodness to be found there. Actually in our cinema, the TV receiver is usually left on that as the default!

Many StudioCanal, Kino, Arrow and Criterion film packages turn up there (whenever something "new" starts playing the chances are it will get a disc release sometime in the next few months: they’ve been playing a lovely restoration of Korda's Jungle Book, so I’m expecting a Network or Criterion announcement soonish), so it’s a cool place to catch old faves or try things out before picking up a disc (or knowing not to bother)!

That, and Sony Classics isn’t bad, though they have a much less turnover of titles. TPTV is where it’s at for oldies, though, and they also program in trailers, as you can see, as well as old toons and anthology TV, especially the Saturday Morning Pictures block between 9am and noon, which is nostalgic fun with Republic serials, western shows and cartoons. It’s a family owned and run channel, actually not too far from where I am, and the quality is great. I often find the week ends and I have several recordings to catch up with from there!

Criterion Channel is much the same way. They often preview not only Criterion titles, but Kino and Warner Archive, too.

That’s the good thing about TPTV! Okay, so it’s ad-supported, but they space them out every half hour or so, so it’s not constant, and we normally DVR stuff so we can skip forward anyway.

Funny enough, Detour — a Criterion title Rand says I should check out — is on this week too, so I’ll take a lookie and see if I need the disc. :)

Wrong thread but in the same ballpark…lookie at what’s playing on that Talking Pictures channel I mentioned above from this very evening, and on every Friday for the next few weeks…all nicely restored versions! My DVR is whirring away as I type!
