Is What If…? worth watching? WandaVision was pretty fun, but Falcon/Winter Soldier was just fine, and Loki was a crushingly talky bore to struggle through.

While well crafted, it seems to me that these Marvel shows are no more "connected" to the MCU than the ones that went before: each show begins and ends up in exactly the same place, so that those without Disney+ won’t be missing out on the filler between the movies. They’ve done a very clever job of making it all look and feel like these shows are integral to the overall plot, but all they’re really doing so far is create mini-dramas that set up and resolve themselves in time for the next big feature to come along.

Okay, so some elements, or rather *ideas* may be introduced and maybe tested, but they have not so far materially affected things outside what we already know about the MCU and where it is headed. I just wondered if What If…? was worth investing the time, since I haven’t really been impressed so far (other than Wanda's neater shorter runtimes, which left us wanting more), and I haven’t heard great things about it, really.

But…yay! Although I haven’t started it yet, Only Murders has been renewed for Season 2! :)

Wanda will next show up in Doctor Strange, majorly altered from the last time we saw her in a film. Sam became the new Cap and will get his own film, and the Countessa was introduced before showing up elsewhere; USAgent will also appear elsewhere in the future, with seeds being planted for a Dark Avengers line-up. And Loki brought in a major character who will next appear in the next Ant-Man/Wasp film. I'd say it's all quite integrated and bordering on integral.

I loved WandaVision - brilliant. Falcon/Winter Soldier was good, though the aim of the antagonists was never really made clear. But I liked the characters and the examination of race and the meaning of the shield. Loki had the problem of being way too high concept for the writers, and didn't work for me at all, despite a likeable cast. To me, the whole premise just does not work, or hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny.

What If? is just for fun. We've liked it, but it's not necessary viewing to follow the upcoming MCU slate if that's one's concern. That's fine with me, though. I've enjoyed the alternate timeline stories, some more than others. Captain Carter was too similar to the first Cap film with only the twist of putting Peggy in the costume, and the story was rushed. I thought the Doctor Strange and Killmonger stories were quite strong and really used the concept of the show to best advantage. The StarLord ep and the Avengers ep were right up there, too. Marvel Zombies was plain fun.

As someone who used to read the print version of What If?, they've done a good job capturing the ironic butterfly-effect quality of the original stories for MCU movie canon.
The T'Challa-as-Star-Lord was also a great episode in creating the sometimes (but not often) idea that an alternative outcome idea might have been better, or ended up ultimately falling into the same path anyway, but the majority were the doomed stories of little things going wrong in a big way, like the Killmonger story.

...It's just TOO GOOD a series to be a Dr. Strange plug and reboot alibi.

My favourite print "What If" stories were ones that changed something very small, but the repercussions were immense.

The Korvac story in #32, for example, hinged entirely on the momentary facial expression of Korvac's girlfriend, which had huge consequences in the battle at hand.

Goofy stuff like "What If The Hulk was a Robot" I had little use for. (I made that one up.)

It always surprised me that Marvel never used the Hulk for any advertising placements. He is, after all, essentially a giant banner…

Even I groaned at that....

I gave up on What If...? after the T'challa is StarLord episodes. Not because they weren't good, I just wasn't left wanting to watch the next episode. Probably cause the show is designed to be episodic and not a series. So there was no need to watch one episode before the other. Plus I got the impression that anything that happened on What If...? would have no bearing on the MCU. Guess I just didn't find the What If...? scenarios as fun as he creative team behind it.

That is great news about Only Murders. I've been really enjoying it and it's one series that I am desperately hanging out to for a new episode to drop each week.

Pretty good Vincent Price voice! And liking the newer Muppets Studio logo (even if they should kind of promote the Muppet Theatre!). This looks fun, a comparative return to form?

Different show, this is a new CG series from Disney Junior:

In the US, the 1981 series has already been on the service.
