Copyright

I have to say I don't like the look of the girl - she looks a little bit generic. Roll on 2026 when the copyrights to Winnie the Pooh will run out and someone can recapture the original essence of A A Milne's stories...

If the copyrights ever expire on Pooh, that would be all for the worse. The creators of shows like "South Park" would have a field day.

I've already come up with some 20 second scripts for episodes of a wacky, somewhat adult orientated (yet not extremely explicit like South Park) little skits featuring Pooh and friends. They mock Disney's exploitation of the franchise more than the characters themselves, though.

The line about the girl's corpse is more likely to give me nightmares.

Disney will find a way to hold on to Pooh's rights.

rights

Post by Myles » December 19th, 2005, 9:23 am

It is quite possible they will maintain the trademarks in the names which can be renewed forever as far as I understand. However, once the copyright in the original stories has passed, anyone should be able to make versions of the original stories - since the stories will be public domain. It would certainly be a brave person to go up against Disney - or as they will be by then 'The AOL Time Warner Universal Dreamworks Paramount Sony Apple Microsoft Disney Corporation'. :?

Has anyone seen this? I saw an episode the other day, and thought it was so-so. Cute, but not something I'll go out of way to watch.

John Fiedler is surely missed, though.

An episode is on the recent Winnie DVD, review being posted tonight. It's kiddie fare, but OK.

Just finished reading your review, Rand, great as always! :)

Very insightful, and brought back a lot memories. One of the things that stuck out to me, was the info about "Winnie The Pooh And A Day for Eeyore". I didn't know that! And to think, its one of my all time favorites. :(

I also liked this little tidbit.

Heck yes!

I only wished it was a new song, and not something we already heard before. (Piglet's Big Movie) Still, I'm a huge fan of Carly, so no biggie.
