Godzilla vs. Kong

Post by Daniel » September 26th, 2019, 1:35 pm

Take with a grain of salt, a trailer description may have been leaked! If true, it will debut in front of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. I'm thinking it's a fake. Would be cool, though.

What, the collection of clips from the past films (since they haven't finished enough VFX to show from the final cut), followed by some actor reactions? Nope, that's the real one--The Twitter account's been hyping it online.

Although GvK may still come off as Justice League's "Uhh, yeah...This DID seem like a really big idea about two or three years ago, but, who knew? Now, we were just sort of married to the release date, so, here's hoping. :? "

Joker has been out for well over day and... surprise, there's no trailer. Boo. Well, at least I was cautious and didn't overhype the dang thing and get anyone's hopes up. Now to see when it will really drop.

There's a good lesson to be learned in this: don't believe everything you read! ;)

No trailer, but had to post this amazing fan edit:

That was freakin' epic! The music, the detail, their quirks. Just wow. They really did their homework! This is too good!

...on a giant banana peel. Then he and Godzilla have a big laugh and go to the pub for pints on the condition they “split” the bill.

Kidding aside, KVG apparently tested very well, which would imply neither of them kill the other and they join forces against a bigger creature after they end their fight (“Mothra! Why did you say that name??”).

Or, like the Japanese movie, they tragically go down as legends fighting together into the ocean/volcano, while (this being Legendary Pictures), our human heroes stare off into the horizon like bigmouth bass, trying to look like a Spielberg-and/or-Emmerich film.

(And sorry, Shy, but I already claimed the "Save Mothra" joke. THREE YEARS ago.) 8)

I knew SOMEbody had to go obvious and bring up the Toho movie, where they actually don’t "tragically go down as legends fighting together". Kong swims back to his island, and 'Zilla is thought to be back in hibernation. Neither dies, or "falls" in the new film's poster parlance.

No counter? What a surprise. Anyway, trailer!

That got me hyped! So many cool shots like Kong dodging Godzilla's fire breath and that final shot!

Looks pretty good, really. Just a hint of Monarch Island, too. I sure hope it's better than the last 2 Legendary Godzillas, both of which put me to sleep.
