Reading Jeremie's article got me looking forward to this. I'm glad it seems worthwhile.

I was able to view an early screening of the film and I think this review does it justice in recognizing its contradictions. That is to say, I do love the movie and how it never went the direction I thought it was going to go. It never seemed formulaic nor tired.

I’d be lucky! With wifey at home I’ve never been so busy! I’m still trying to write email replies to Rand's email from the other day! We're getting lots done around the place, but with that and the constant catching up with friends and family, we're lucky to get in a single movie every few days let alone one or two a night!

This was really great .. exactly what I needed to get some laughs out of me and to put a smile on my face, after a week that had me feeling a bit down. :)

The kids and I watched this last night. Not an "instant classic," necessarily, but quite enjoyable, with the comparisons to Roald Dahl being apt. The director did well to maximize what he had in terms of using his budget. While the animation was not as fluid as for a big budget major studio, the film does not look cheap - only stylized in a way that saved on the budget but still looked great. I only regret that Netflix's bandwidth is a little inadequate here, resulting in too many brief instances of buffering, which was annoying. (D+ and Criterion Channel have still been fine for me.)

Same! Lol. :)
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!
