Meanwhile, the promotional imagery, hoping for their "built-in" audience, has been doubling down on nice shiny images of Diana in her winged "Golden eagle" armor, whose flight capabilities apparently play some role in the climax.

I dare anyone to look at said poster of WW with her battle-wings spread, and not think:
"Who can save Princess Juliet, held captive by the evil Count Lorka?
Who can save the city? Who?
...Who?:
CONDORWOMAN!!"

Another sign that this isn’t the "light hearted" follow up to Dawn Of Justice that Snyder himself said he was going for. Could still be epic, but still sounds dour and not what these characters are really all about.

I hate this "what if superheroes were in the real world" kind of treatment, or just treating it all dark and violent and moody, as if this is supposed to give it gravitas or make it in any way "grounded" or "real". You’re inherently talking about vigilantes in Halloween costumes running around that would look totally ridiculous in broad daylight in the real world. You can still be grounded or even theatrical with it, but don’t try to be "real" or use gore and violence to make it "serious" as a way to make it "authentic".

That said, I’m still excited to check this out, even if it’s already sounding too stuffed with empty calories.

I’ve deceived that I’m not going to watch Winder Woman 1984 because, while I have seen the first film, I need to catch up on all 1,982 sequels that come between them. Guess I should have been binging on all those during lockdown, but I couldn’t find them anywhere?

Not a fan of the Snyder cut idea. There's a reason he was replaced, and we don't need to see more of what caused his departure. Just because Whedon couldn't clean up his mess half way through, doesn't vindicate Snyder. If anything it proves the point against him.

Snyder was replaced because Warner got cold feet when BvS didn't make a bazillion dollars. I still want to see Snyder finish off his story the way he intended, largely to see BvS actually pay off. I'm thrilled to be getting a chance to see it. It may be a let-down, but likely not more so than the Frankenstein JL job we got the first time.
