Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
Wow this looks---average.
Re: Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
I clicked on the link to see if it was a retitled Dragon Ball Z movie Sony had acquired.
It wasn't.
It wasn't.
Re: Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
Main character reminds me of Tadashi from Big Hero 6. "Is there anything you can't do" wonder is there's something deeper there...

Or: Wannabe Mushu: The Movie!
This is one of those films where you think all CG films look the same.

Or, whether Spiderman really WAS a one-hit fluke for Sony.Ben wrote: June 4th, 2020, 2:17 pmThis is one of those films where you think all CG films look the same.![]()
Would I be right in guessing it's not just the trailer that's Chinese? From the logos, I take it this is one of those studio co-productions DreamWorks was so excited about getting to do, and never quite got around to doing. Like Netflix wasn't showing enough generic Chinese CGI comedies.
(It has that distinctly Communist-state flavor of a story about a wish-granting creature that can't quite grant them in modern times, for those who were curious enough to look up Disney's "Secret of the Magic Gourd".)
Re: Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
Definitely a copro, though where it was made I don’t know. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that Sony has picked up the option on Pearl's next film!

Re: Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
Looks like jackie chan is voicing someone in the film.
Looks like a movie that would be sold to netflix before it's release here. It might be good but the trailer makes it look as plain as can be.

Re: Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
Another trailer:
Meh. Every beat is almost exactly the same as Disney's Aladdin, how could you not compare...

OMG, what a rip, right down to the "itty bitty living space"!
I reckon the clock is ticking down to when Netflix buys Columbia from Sony...

Re: Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
At this point, I'm thinking the Pandemic has officially changed the industry's entire view of non-Disney/Pixar animated films:
Yes, Universal and Warner were ready to release Trolls: World Tour and Scoob for their own studio ambitions, but if things were different, would studios TODAY still picture releasing "Over the Moon", "Mitchells vs. the Machines", and this mess in actual wide-release theaters?
They just seem to have re-created their own industry 90's-direct-video ghetto, where you wonder why they don't just go direct-to-Netflix/VOD.

Re: Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
Answer: yes.
Over The Moon would have always been a Netflix show, since they financed it, but So y would have been releasing Mitchells in theatres for sure, hoping for another Spideyverse or the next Lego movie franchise.
But, yeah, all these animateds going DTS does seem like it’s a predestined or automatic kind of thing, although it only seems that way. The reality is that kids and family stuff is what propels those businesses right now: the kids see something they want and the family has to pay/watch it!
It’s not intentional, but all about reaching the broadest audiences, and these films tick all the right boxes.

Gone to netflix. Called it.
Re: Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer
This was announced for Netflix last year, with the Mitchells...?
