Cartoons based on Movies!

Post by gaastra »

Another pointless but fun thread. How about we look at the cartoon shows based on movies!

Let's start with this one--

Warning of flashing lights.

I have the series set from the UK, and the comics. Not much to do with the film as I recall, but fun!

As network Saturday morning declined moving into the early 90s, no one even noticed we got a Bill & Ted AND a Back to the Future cartoon...
(Both with the same time-travel plots.)

It's only when I got older that I realized that an executive or two had to have been super crazy or super high to think that it was a good idea to make a cartoon series aimed at kids off of The Toxic Avenger.

But I'm not ashamed to say I enjoyed Toxic Crusaders as a kid.

And they just announced a video game parodying TMNT!

To be honest, I really liked this cartoon, though I watched only the first version of the cartoon, the second must also somehow watch.

That comic cover really does show up the Rick & Marty — oops! — Morty ripoffs, don’t it?

Or even the series that could have saved us SO much pain in the theaters if it had just come a year or two earlier:

And if you even remember this movie, let alone the cartoon, it remains proof that not every movie or cartoon can be the Real Ghostbusters:

(The little three-eyed smiley didn't actually appear in the movie, just the poster, but they were that desperate to have their own equivalent Slimer.)

Tangentially related, but one of my favorite Simpson jokes was when Bart gets caught stealing and Homer is giving him a talking to and adds: “we live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well I didn’t hear anyone laughing!”

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!
