Well…it’s not a live-action film, but they want us to think and say it is. I’m more or less happy to go along with that, for the reasons mentioned above, even if the difference is really "cel animated" and "CG rendered", but it’s not a live-action film. Not even any of the plates were shot for real, except for one shot.

That’s pretty cray-cray! It’s like there’s a pent-up energy for a faithful SMB movie or something, or like families are finally coming back to cinemas after a huge pandemic and wanting to see something worthwhile (and semi-original), y'know?

You haven’t sad what the actual movie is like, gaas. Have you seen it, and does it stack up?

Pretty fun. Don't go in expecting up or toy story 3. This isn't the greatest animated film ever but it's a fun mario movie. Family loved it. Just keep in mind it's not going to have pixar script plots. It's pretty faithful to the games with tons of nods to all eras and those who never played the games can enjoy it also as a fun fantasy comedy.

I saw a clip today and thought it was cool that they were using what I assume to be the original game SFX on the soundtrack. Though it doesn’t mean a lot to me, I could appreciate that and know how awesome that would be for the real fans to notice those.
