It does feel more like a Disney Toon production rather than a Walt Disney Animation Studios one.

This is what people mean when they say it looks unfinished (though Wish does have cell shading):

Probably because they only had three before the 90's Renaissance added five by 1998.

Poor princess Eilonwy from black cauldron is forgot again. She makes 4.

Minnie was a princess in brave little tailor also.

Also, disney has used oddly Maid Marian from robin hood (kings niece not daughter and she is a fox and he a lion, so she is probably adopted) and alice from alice in wonderland. Not sure why alice is used but she is the creator of wonderland so maybe that? Even kingdom hearts had alice a princess the "princess of hearts".

Time used to be when a "Disney Princess" was a fairytale character that had been adapted from age-old stories. In those terms, it's still only three before the renaissance in 1990, since Eilonwy was from a modern book, not handed-down stories. That said, the "Disney Princess" merch line is a very different thing, where any and all ladies with any tangential royal connection seems to be included!

She is still a princess from a pre 90s canon disney animated film so it's still 4. Also note disney bought that full book series rights years ago. They own her fully upright!

Of course, that film got its butt kicked by care bears movie and at the time disney biggest flop so disney has not used her much.

Nah. Not really up there with Snowy, Cinders or Beauts in terms of reader or audience recognition, is she? As far as classic fairytales go, and whatever a "Disney Princess" was *before* the merchandising coined that phrase, it’s just those three.

After the 90s, after the "Disney Princess" brand…you can retroactively add whoever you like. :)

…and still a couple of months to go. While it doesn’t look like a real wow, I’d love for proper Disney Animation to have a bona fide theatrical hit again, and appropriately for the 100th anniversary.

Nope, officially disqualified--

Disney's official canonical answer to smartypants is:
A) Eilonwy and Leia both had their kingdoms(/planets) destroyed, and aren't princesses of anything anymore,
B) Kida gave up her throne to go exploring with Milo,
C) Vanellope turned the Sugar Rush monarchy into a electoral democracy, and
D) Giselle technically never DID marry the prince, did she?

So disney princesses can be disqualified now. New one on me.

By the way disney dreamlight valley Vanellope is known as the "speedy princess" and has been referenced as a princess so far at least 4 times in the game so far! So disney is still marketing her as one. Also, you forgot to bring up she abandons her whole kingdom (game) to live in another one as she got bored. So, she is not their leader anymore Eather way.

Also destroyed kingdom or not Eilonwy still was a princess at one point same as princess liea was a princess before her planet blew up!

“What happens in hand-drawn is that you have the incredible hand of the artist, but also limitations in what you could do on screen,” Lee explained. “What happened in CG is you'd have incredible, boundless opportunities, visually, that elevated it — even to the point for some — into realism, which is not what we wanted to do. The more important thing to us was to have a way to find technology that can do everything. Connect to the true vision of the artist, but bring in technology that could finally take away limitations.”

The story of Wish fits into Disney’s long history of adapting and creating original fairy tales that center on a central character with a passionate desire that they desperately want to come true. In this case, Asha (Ariana DeBose) is the empathetic dreamer who lives in the imaginary Kingdom of Rosas sometime around 1200 to 1300. The idyllic land is ruled by the charismatic King Magnifico (Chris Pine) who has the power to take and grant wishes.

Lee admitted that even after they committed to using computer animation to make Wish, they did consider using traditional animation to bring the character Star to life. Ultimately, she said 2D had too many limitations in terms of camera movements and characterization.
Someone never saw any studio Ghibli 2d films or watched the animation in your name or fireworks that puts some disney cg films animation to shame!

Wait a minute, traditional animation—with all of its stark, raw, visceral power—has “limitations”? Spare me!
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Well, of course it has limitations. So does CGI. They each have strengths and weaknesses.
