You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

I'll take Bob Z's motion capture eyes over whatever the fudge this is any day.

And it's from Darren Aronofsky????

A rather well-done AI Star Wars fan film .. I'm particularly impressed with the expanded views of the chain-reaction destruction of the Death Star from within, during the first couple minutes; it definitely reframes that pivotal event "from a certain point of view" .. :o

The storytelling does get a bit ponderous in the second half, I'll admit. But still kinda cool. :)

A fan-fueled expanded recreation of the opening sequence for the 1996 TV anime series Martian Successor Nadesico (a very underrated series; IMHO, one of the finest TV anime of the 1990s) .. blending high-end CGI for the mecha with AI-generated 'live action' depictions of the characters.

Unfortunately, this video is cut short for YouTube viewers; apparently, the full version is only available to 'paid' subscribers of the group which created it. :?

and here's the original anime OP, for those who might've never seen it ..

As said, Nadesico was one of my personal favorite anime from the mid-1990s .. with a delicious combination of serious sci-fi, borderline comedic parody of 1970s 'super robot' anime -- and ridiculous situations intertwined with compelling character drama. The studio, XEBEC, would go on to become the principal creatives behind the excellent Space Battleship Yamato 2199 anime revival, during the 2010s.

---------------------

I've spent the past couple days binge-rewatching the entire 26-episode TV series .. and I'd kinda forgotten that Nadesico massively drops the ball, in the very end. :? It tries desperately to set up a sequel -- which took the form of a Sega Dreamcast game, of all things. There was a follow-up movie titled The Prince of Darkness, which came a year or so later .. and had an entirely-serious tone, in stark contrast to the tongue-in-cheek, 'lovingly-done parody' style of the TV series .. while still failing to satisfactorily wrap-up the loose ends from the show. :|

Not quite the disaster of the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series' slapdash ending and two(!) unsatisfactory movies .. but definitely similar, in flavor. However -- for its first 24 episodes or so -- Martian Successor Nadesico is great fun, and still has much worth watching for (just know that the ending will leave you asking, "that's IT??!" :o
