Oscar Contest 2026

Post by James »

Animated Views is giving away $50 worth of movies — your choice of either an Amazon gift card or a Fandango gift card — during our 22nd Annual Oscar Event! All you have to do is predict who is going to win at the 98th Annual Academy Awards (to be held on Sunday, March 2nd, and televised on ABC). The person with the most correct picks will win!

Log into your Animated Views Forum account to play. Not a forum member? Registration is free and easy so sign up now! You never have to actually use the forum if you don't want to. We never give away or sell any of your information. And other than a message to confirm your address (and another if you win!), we do not send any emails to members.

Make your prediction in each category using this form. All entries must be received by Saturday, March 14th, at 11:59pm EST. One entry per person please. If you send more than one entry, only the first one received will be counted.

On Oscar night we'll keep a live running score of who is winning the contest.

You can view and print your ballot any time on the ballot review page.

After you've entered, don't forget to come back here to the Forum to discuss your predictions with other AV readers.

Then be sure to check out past contests and winners in our Oscar contest record book.

For the grand finale of the Event, join us for a live Oscar chat on March 15th during the show. We'll be talking about the people, the fashions, the story-lines, and the awards, and also keeping tabs on who is leading in the contest throughout the night.

I keep trying to enter the contest while logged in, but when I get to the page to submit my picks, it says I'm not logged in.

Not having seen many until quite recently (thank-you, screeners!), even I am still quite perplexed at some of the nominations themselves, not least who might win!

I think money can safely be put on Jessie Buckley for Actress as a cert, and probably Best Picture to One Battle, but everything else is practically open season, though I think Paul Thomas Anderson will likely couple that with a Director win too.

Sinners is the big one to beat, but history tells us the big standout nominated film can often walk away with just a couple or none at all. I haven’t seen Sinners, and can't say that I can understand all the attention (I mean, I get it, but I don’t understand it) as basically a genre picture, but can see it getting some recognition. One Battle's Sean Penn is the obvious choice, although his performance practically screamed "give me awards!", and I think del Toro was betterer.

Everything else is open, so I expect no-one will have a perfect tally this year. I certainly don’t expect to do great, maybe outside of the Big Five and even then there’s a couple I think could fumble either way.

But that’s the fun, right? "See" you Sunday! :D
