Disney Villains Vs Pixar Bad Guys And Other Villains

Post by Once Upon A Dream » July 28th, 2008, 2:41 pm

I found this topic about Disney Villains comparing to Pixar's baddies in the Blue Sky Disney blog, the topic says that Disney Villains are pure evil while Pixar are more real:
http://blueskydisney.blogspot.com/2008/ ... -guys.html
Well,I disagree.
They"re supposed to be evil, otherwise they"re not, villains,Pixar doesn't have real villains, the cloest thing to one is Hopper from A Bug's Life, their villains are just bad people but aren't real villains.
Maleficent and Chernabog for example are real villains not some people who do bad things without knowing it's bad.
Zurg for exmaple is a joke,Buzz Lighteryear's father? that's not really villain,Maleficent on the other hand is neat and dark, she's not a joke.
A villain is supposed to be evil and serious, not be bad but not evil, and he said that people can relate to Pixar, who wants or who does relate to Darla? or Chick Hicks? they"re not supposed to be relate to.
About other villains-Don Bluth's and more's villains are like Disney Villains but less darker,as for Dreamworks villain-Some of them are like Disney Villains (The Fairy Godmother from Shrek 2 reminds me of Lady Tramine) but some are like Pixar's (Don Lino for example).
So what do you think?.

Add to that:
A) are we talking about the "pure evil" Walt era villains, or the petulant and childish-target sniffy-gay Katzenberg era ones (put Scar up against the Evil Queen, and fear for the lion),
B) a Villain implies a Plot, because he instigates the antagonistic conflict: Chernabog is not a "villain", just because 90's marketing says he is--He/It is simply a character in a painting,
and
C) WHAT Pixar villains, apart from Randall, Syndrome and Hopper?...Were there some in "Wall-E" and "Cars" that I missed??

Not really, unless you count Chick Hicks.

Ursula and Jafar weren't good?.
Well,Chernabog is just evil and not really tries to stop someone but... he's a giant bat having a wild drugs party with little demons, what's not evil about that? and the merchandise says he's a villain.
Well,there's-
Toy Story-Cid.
Ratatouille-Skinner.
Toy Story 2-Zurg,Al and the Miner.
Finding Nemo-Darla? (There isn't really a villain in that film).
Cars-Chick Hicks.
But they"re just wannabes.

MERGED POST: About the Pixar's Villains:
Randall and Hopper are villains (Hopper terrorised the ants and almost killed some,Randall wanted to make small kids suffer for his own gain) but Syndrome was just disappointed by his hero and wanted revenge but he's not Maleficent or The Evil Queen.

Could you please not use "gay" as a negative adjective? Thanks.

That could actually be taken literally. I've always had my speculations about Jafar.

Point taken. It's still not nice, though.

Scar is an UNMARRIED UNCLE, voiced by Jeremy Irons. Do the math. :P

(Oh, and in the sequel, we find out he had a "secret" female love interest they didn't bother to tell us about until now. Yeah. Right, Diz. Gotcha.
At least a last-minute hetero retcon is more than Gov. Ratcliffe ever got...)

And doesn't Frollo seem to be protesting his "lust" for Esmeralda a little too much?

(Seriously, though: Back when the Southern Baptists were trying to hector Disney by picking on anything Lion King-related to get headlines, they misinterpreted Timon & Pumbaa's relationship, and claimed that TLK was "evidence" that Disney was "promoting gay characters" in their movies, without naming who...
Hand to bibles, I actually first thought they were referring to Scar, and hoped it might finally embarrass Jeff K. off his favorite lazy-screenwriter plot shtick. And not a danged moment too soon.)

I deleted your post above, Once, for being crude. I think it would be best, for now, to stop that discussion.

Going back to the article, I think this could lead to a decent conversation, between the merits of Disney villains and Pixar villains. I for one, somewhat agree. Although I think Hopper and Randall are definitely evil.

Oh,sorry if it's crude  I just wanted to say that Jasmine got Jafar's attention by kissing to what Whippet Angel said but I don't we should talk about this.
So,you prefer Pixar baddies or Disney Villains?.

No problem. :)

They're both in good in different ways, but I prefer Disney villains a little bit more.

Yay :D.
Well,Disney Villains are IMO real villains.
Skinner isn't evil? (Thought he's not evil like Maleficent or Evil Queen and he didn't hurt anyone expet locking Remy in a cage).

I like them both too. Although the ones in the Pixar films usually feel a bit more realistic. That's probably because we can clearly see where their motives come from.

Syndrome was disappointed by his childhood hero.
Skinner wanted to keep his job, and make as much profit from it as possible.
Auto was simply doing his job (you try telling a Bot that's been doing the same job for 700 years to change his directive  )

But the Disney Villains are more great (IMO).
Who's Auto?.
