Saw it today.

Pretty sure this movie just redefined the words "abrupt cliffhanger"....

Hated the first one. This one was much more tolerable. But still way too much filler. They could have combined these first two and had something really good.

Still socked in by weather, but...judging expectations accordingly from the first film.

(When the trailers show
elves and dwarves united to fight the spiders together in a Big Action Scene,
I'm guessing Jackson hasn't quite yet pulled back on the Creative Embellishment...)

I never read The Hobbit so can't comment specifically but in that scene let's just say...
...they're not exactly working together.

I'll take your word for it, but in the book, the Elves and the spiders never even meet--Different chapters.

Saw it last night and enjoyed it very much, even with a few slow spots. The Smaug part was worth sitting through those! Again loved Martin Freeman, SUCH a good actor. Plus, another great 2d cinematic experience! :) :P

Me too! In a way I wish we could see more of the story but considering how much trailers give away nowadays it's probably best we don't. :)

Anyway, really don't know what to make of this, but had to post it! :?

He's run out of Tolkien books ... he'll have to go back to Tintin now. ;)

The final trailer, as listed on the front page:

Quite interesting, except where the heck is Bilbo?? Other than that sig image he's barely in the trailer. :( The final shot of him and the Ring was pretty cool, however.

Well...
In the book, Bilbo spends the entire battle knocked out. Now, I doubt that will be the case here, but he's not an active part of the story's climax at all.
