According to reports from D23, the brothers quest is to find a stone to help them use magic to see their dead dad for a day... Sounds like it's going to have real heart. Hearing that has piqued my interest more.

There was also this from D23:

Colorful! Reminds me of Big City Greens.

Full Trailer:

I'm... actually less interested now. Still looks like it could be good, and actually do like the premise of them trying to get their dad back, however... that's not at all how I was imagining it. The whole half of dad aspect just seems a little too wacky...

I'm the opposite Daniel, that new trailer has just made the movie a must see when it comes out. It has been a while since a trailer made me laugh out loud and this one made me laugh out loud a number of times. I'm realistic and know it won't be a laugh a minute but I can also see there is gonna be a lot of heart. It's nice to finally have another original idea again from Pixar.

Okay, I must say it: Was anyone else thinking "Extremely Scary" from It: Chapter Two?

The director in the press interviews talked about never knowing his own dad as a kid, and personal investment by the writer/directors is how Pixar gets the good stories that the other studios don't. That's probably why the sequels have uniformly been blah, they're continuing somebody else's imagination urge and just writing gags for a movie character.
I'll just have to go with the "EVERY Pixar trailer has looked 'awful'" rule, unless we get more evidence.

Heck yeah! This just went from a weird-looking, kind of maybe-fun piece of filler to being an, admittedly still kind of weird-looking, absolute must-see!

Yeah, so having half the dad is a bit odd, but it’s unique to say the least, and for all the mythical stuff there seems to be an edge too. Looks like Pixar are going to pull it out of the hat again, as you just know the emotion will trump the one-liners by the end and make us feel as well as laugh.

Loving the references (hello Fantasia!) and the perfect use of the main track, not only spot on when you know the name, but works terrifically with the tone and pace of the trailer.

This just zoomed to the top of my an-tici-pation list. :D

That's one aspect I've loved from the get-go, the background music. Hope it's as good in the actual film! I also like the chemistry between the two brothers.

The original pitch of this as being a movie about a modern fairytale land did not interest me. But the scenes they showed at D23 convinced me that the film will be *so much more* than that. I anticipate many goosebumps and tears from this one.

Octavia Spencer is voicing the Manticore seen in the recent trailer:

Okay, wasn't expecting that. Didn't really come across as female. Now with the still, note the shoes!

The houses look cute, very watercolor like. Note the first pic, you can see their trouser dad possibly on a leash.

"The Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants"! ;)
