Do they use Roman numerals in France? You know how touchy they are about their language!

No, didn't you hear they changed the title. They felt like it would be better if they kept it concise. But I think its stupid really because Bambi and The Great Prince of the Forest is a more thoughtful title.

I think James means that the title in the US is "Bambi II" (thus with roman numerals) and in France it's "Bambi 2" (without roman numerals). The "Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest" indeed sounded nicer, but it's probably just marketing behind it (quite a lengthy title for a sequel?).

Yeah but the title Bambi II lacks character. Sure it's long but they should of save Bambi II for a sequel not a mid-quel.

Yes, "Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest" is a much better title but they don't realize they could call it that and people could still say "Bambi II" for short. Now it's like there's only one option.

I don't know... For me it's going to be tough to beat Rescures Down Under which, is my #1 sequel so far. I also hope it will be better than some of the latest sequels that have been coming out.

It's not a sequel. That's why Disney called it "Bambi II".

That just doesn't make sense. Bambi II and Bambi 2 are one and the same thing.

Mulan II was called Mulan 2 in Europe - I don't know, maybe they just don't like their Roman numerals.

Roman numerals in the title has always, as far as the industry has been concerned, brought more of a "serious event" feel to a sequel, as in The Godfather Part II (and III), Superman II, III and IV, and Back To The Future II and III.

Disney, for the most part, have also stuck to this (even in Europe, the main title screens inthe films themselves still read as "II"). My point was that it was a shame Disney had moved away from the II for Bambi and gone for a 2 in Europe, thus taking away from it even more stature that it would have mustered from its original original title.

It's still II in the US, by the way. ;)
