The word Up may be a code that will be used in the movie, because Up is going to be an adventure movie, so the old man and the wilderness boy might try to find something that the old man only knows about and he has to find the secret code first. That’s my guess at it.

When I sent a contact at BVI an email recently, I asked if she had any information on "Up". That is how I spelt it. She replied spelling it "UP". I'm not sure if it is just her highlighting the name by spelling it in all capitals, but it could be something. (She didn't have anything on Up btw) Has anyone else seen it spelt UP?

Usually, film promoter types spell all their films in CAPS to draw emphasis.

I wouldn't bring any attention to it until we see a logo. After all, we were unsure if it was Wall-E before the logo and the ad made it clear that it's an acronym, which therefore should be spelt in capitals: WALL-E.

To recap previous reports, Pixar's tenth animated film Up is scheduled for theatrical release June 12, 2009. In an earlier issue of TIME, director Pete Docter described Up as a "coming-of-old-age story" about a seventy-something guy who lives in a house that "looks like your grandparents' house smelled." He befriends a clueless young Wilderness Ranger and gets into lots of altercations. Says Pixar: "Our hero travels the globe, fights beasts and villains and eats dinner at 3:30 in the afternoon."

And recently, an Upcoming Pixar reader stumbled upon a photo of a new image Up that was taken at Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World:

Brad Bird said in an interview that it will be the first ever Pixar feature to target a little more mature audience.

So is Up being done with traditional animation or cel-shaded CGI? Looks like it could be one or the other (and there were those reports of Pixar buying all the art desks Disney got rid of a few years back). It'd be awesome to see Pixar lead the way for the new wave of traditional films. Here's an encouraging thought: If Up is traditional animation and it becomes a hit, maybe Don Bluth will finally be able to do the Dragon's Lair movie he's been sitting on for eight years now (according to him, the execs he's talked to like the story and the only reason he hasn't been able to do it yet is cause no one wants to invest in hand drawn animation. How sad).

SO they pushed the release date sooner? I wonder if this means that there is something else coming out at that time that they think would have a chance to steal sales from it? Or if this means they just think they will be finished sooner?

Seems like a promising movie either way. ^.^

I think they are just trying to cash in on the Memorial Day weekend business.
