Gnome-Mobile is pretty much only--ONLY--worth watching for Mary Poppins fans, not only for the return of Jane & Michael Banks, but the Disneyland animatronic robins that Mary duetted with while cleaning up the nursery.
but if we did Finian's then we'd probably aim to keep it around eight and space people around, for what that’s worth, asking for tests beforehand.
I've never quite understood WHY Finian's Rainbow gets the unfair guff it seems to attract, mostly by people who like to imagine Francis Coppola was "embarrassed" by it. (He wasn't, btw--It was his favorite musical in college, his first big opportunity to play in the big studio sandbox, and he still gushes about it on the disc commentary.)

Also, it's pretty much the only good bit of Tommy Steele we'll get, especially including the uncut roadshow version of "Happiest Millionaire".

You clearly haven’t seen Half A Sixpence, then! Pure gold, with a loooong overdue Blu (howsaboot a Paramount Presents, please, er, Paramount?)!

Nice to see another Finian fan though! Though The Gnome-Mobile is better than you indicate; it’s a very funny family picture, and Brennan is great value in his dual roles!

And here’s hoping we get the Disneyland Leprechauns "doc" n that disc in HD, though I wouldn’t hold out much hope. Would be a first if we did, though, and fitting!

Nooo, I saw it: The musical version of "Kipps" is where I first learned about HG Wells' non-scifi Socialism-propaganda rich-vs-poor class system novels, and just how danged corny they could get.

It was a good musical, but EVERY single number in the movie is stretched to ten-minute excess, on the flimsiest story provocation--Imagine "Oliver", if each musical number was done as "Consider Yourself."

Well, not EVERY single number. The title song says hello, for example. But what’s wrong with that anyway? Irwin Kostal's wonderful arrangements make it feel like the Disney musical that wasn’t.

Yes, but Irwin Kostal can make ANY musical feel like Disney. (Qv. Chitty/Bang and Charlotte's Web)

And "Flash Bang Wallop" did catch on outside the musical, to make it onto a few variety shows in the 70's, but after five solid minutes of watching Tommy sing about how he's going boating with his girl on Sunday, and it's still going on, you start to picture those Holy Grail characters shouting "Get on with it!!"

Nah, Sixpence is just gold. No argument. :)

Flash Bang Wallop was a breakout because it was the eleven o'clock number, though added very late, when Steele himself realised they didn’t have *that* particular song in previews. Of course, it’s now the song that everyone sings on their way out of the piece!

Because most of them are from Disney Treasures sets, and thus got quality masters. (Except for Leprechauns, which got onto the Darby O'Gill disc.)

And still no sign of "Dad, Can I Borrow the Car?", which at least got a VHS-upgraded DVD back in the early, early days of DMC.

Except that was the extended WWOD version with lots of padding. I’d still like to se the half-as-long theatrical featurette version sometime, somehow.

Thanks gaastra! Nice selection, and glad I have most of them on one format or other. If only these turned up on D+ though. Might even get me to keep my sub!

Oh, really!? That’s…er…good — we have none of these kinds of episodes here! BTW, I didn’t want to "pick you up" on it, but seeing as you’ve said it twice, it’s actually Tricks Of The Trade — one of my favourite episodes! :)
