Originally (about two years ago I think) there were rumors that it would be in 2d.

One would hope so. They should release the name of their 2008 film, and 2009 film i think as well as the cast list for Ratatouille. That's probably asking too much but one can only try.

Pixar wouldn't show the public their future work that far in advance.

True but they said in their 3rd quarter of 2005 that they where going to announce 3 films at around the end of the year which one was Ratatouille i believe. So thats 2 more that they where going to announce but haven't yet and its 6 months down the track. I

Look for news on their next film at the end of this year, when Cars comes out on DVD and they really start to ramp up for Ratatouille.

But don't forget that Toy Story 3 is a certainty...!

Yeah, although Toy Story 3 is a certainty, it wasn't a certainty till after the merger. Pixar would have definintley had films lined up before it. And I am assuming John is a tad busy at the moment to go back to directing duties so soon. Due to the average 1 year, 1.5 years till the next Pixar films, I'm am guessing it is probably about 2010-11 till we get TS3, unless Pixar start releasing 2 films a year before then.

Yeah but being a public company (both now and before they merged with Disney) it's their responsiblity to at least announce their IDEAS so that shareholders have a grasp on what is in store. That's why Disney has previews of future films at Shareholder's meetings.

They are now a (pretty critical) part of a major multinationial corporation, not just the pet project division of a computer company anymore.


(Sorry if this sounds mean or condescending, just trying to make the point that even though I know Pixar has had a very insular and cloistered culture up till now, there have to be some changes if they are going to at least represent the Walt Disney Company. Lassetter and Catmull are also running WDFA so what they do at Pixar has an impact on how WDFA is perceived and vice versa...it's all tied together now.)

Well as a Disney shareholder myself, i am eagerly awaiting the announcement of future films.

Pixar was never "the pet project division of a computer company".

Apple's CEO Steve Jobs just happened to be Pixar's CEO, but they were never joined at the hip in any other way.

My favorite muppet is Kermit the frog. He just wins at everything.

I love Kermit too but I'm not crazy about his "new" voice. No one can even come close to Jim Henson. I really think they should have retired the character by now. In some ways I think it's defaming Henson's memory.

I think it will probably do better than Cars in the B.O., seeing as everyone seems to like the trailer, and its got the whole 'cute fuzzy talking animal' factor going with it.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but...I still don't get how rats who LOOK like rats (unlike Rizzo) can be considered cute and/or fuzzy.
