Another japan video rental store. The video is 90% anime and manga areas of the store. It's so crazy how japan is still in the 90s with video stores. Not shocked pokemon, case closed, doraemon and dragonball have full shelfs to themselves!

Yes demon slayer is there also!

Love it! If only we still had import disc shops here too! Used to love my London trips and pop into HMV's huge NTSC LaserDisc import section and come away with a disc or two….

Japan originally regulated VHS as a rental-only format in the 80's, so people relied on video stores, and laserdisc became the dominant home-theater-collector format. Any US techie who owned a Pioneer laserdisc player in the late-80's/early-90's usually imported the JP disc of his favorite movie to own.
(Although, to be fair, the fact that JP laserdiscs were affordable, could play on US NTSC players, and could be tape-copied and Macrovision-coded VHS tapes couldn't, was one of the engines that fueled the early Anime underground in the US.)

Oh, and other countries don't seem to be parsing the Netflix/streaming thing--
Even Japan, where using the Internet on a cellphone is okay, but owning a game console or using the Internet on a desktop computer will scarlet-letter you in public as a girl-phobic Internet-addicted geek dropout who's afraid of work and needs to be dragged out of his apartment into the sunlight like Dracula...
Which is probably one reason that broadcast TV hasn't lost popularity over there either, and no superiority-complexes among young Netflix users to fuel game-console TV streaming.

 ....Oh, wait, you're serious.

(I'd say a lot of Honest Trailers aren't based on "Success" barometers, any more than Mad Magazine parodies were. We don't get that little bam-bam-bam opening of fan Twitter messages saying "Oh, man, you gotta do Godzilla vs. Kong, look how much BOX OFFICE it's getting!")

Success is not just measured in box-office takings, as Mad also attested.

Well kind of. They did star wars holiday special and cats also. So yes i was kinda joking there. :)

Still nice to see it get it's own honest trailer that both picks on it and says it's great at the same time!

Key visual for season 2:

Image

Sweet. From the little I've read, (to avoid spoilers) heard it's a pretty amazing arc. Season 1 was pretty dang awesome. Well, for the most part. The only real thing that brought it down a smidge for me was when they added the insufferable sidekicks. Inosuke's not that bad, but Zenitsu is one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen. He gets better thankfully, though.

Could've stuck that in here, y'know. ;)

Olympic gymnast Alexa Moreno performs her routine to Demon Slayer's OST "Demon Slaying Corps":

Beautiful track. If someone uses "Gurenge" that will be one of heck of a treat!

Here's a Twitter link as the Youtube vid is now unavailable. It was great to hear so much video game music during the opening ceremony.

Belle (Beauty and the Beast meets digimon!) has made $30m in japan. G kids confirms film will get a american theatre release! Film got a standing ovation on it's first showing! Will get a imax release also. Sounds like this will get a bigger push in america thanks to demon slayer doing well.
