Also some of these critics are so dumb and arbitrary that they actually say that the film is "inferior to the delightful Madagascar" or trying to rip off Madagacar, when in actuality those same critics called Madagascar a failure when it came out. They'll do ANYTHING to sound smart.

And then there's Slant Magazine. They have given 99% of Disney's films a negative review. For goodness sake, they gave Cinderella & Bambi bad reviews.
IMO, following critics is just dumb. Unless the critic is a clone of yourself, chances are you'll disagree with them.

Maybe he just saw the predicted weekend grosses for The Wild ($9.56m against Ice Age's $20m in its third week). I can't believe how much cash the Ice sequel is hoovering up. What a strange world we live in when the year's two biggest films are a sequel and a remake (The Pink Panther)?!?!!
The Wild's failure says several things.
audiences are getting smart, knowing knock offs when they see it.
Eisner's effort to make cheap CG flicks has failed with both Valiant and
this film. The only people who should be blamed for its failure is Disney's management, for micromanaging a film that never should have been made.
This is the last effort of the old regime.

Saw it this weekend. I don't know if it was because I went in with low expectations but it really was a pretty good little film! Compared to the classics of 15 years ago, no it won't stand up. But with the films being released these days it more than holds its own.
The animation was surprisingly good, even if you didn't like the actual character designs. The story was deeper and more involving than Madagascar. Some sequences, like Samson's opening story and his backstory flashback, were really great and inspired stuff. And with the exception of the Giraffe and Snake (who didn't seem to serve much purpose) the characters were pretty well-developed, well acted, and entertaining.
While on the surface it shares some similarities with Madagascar, they really couldn't be more different films. And both are good in different ways. I'd definitely suggest catching this one in theatres.

That's, er, a bit of a bold statement.
One thing's for sure, you can't call "The Wild" cheap: It cost about $80M!
