Barring Chicken Little stealing the show, Wallace and Gromit should be a lock to win their third statue!

Personally, I like to see a three-way tie between Chicken Little, Wallace & Gromit, and Corpse Bride, but then again, I'd also like to see myself married to Heidi Klum.

I don't think either of those things are going to happen.

Seriously, I can't help to wonder if Madagascar is going to steal Corpse Bride's nomination, similar to Shark Tale's stealing the nod from Polar Express.

Yes, and at the time, it was the worst-reviewed computer animated film of all time as well.

Yeah...but it was cute. A lot of those reviews, IMO, were part of a collective anti-DW bias with many critics out there. Particularly because so many of them were comparing it to Nemo (even though Nemo is totally different type of movie).

Lots of great movies have gotten bad reviews--The Wizard of Oz, Home Alone, A ClockWork Orange (there's a lot of people who think this is a reprehensible film), AI, 2001, even E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial. Before Schindler's List Spielberg was called a hack director by more than one member of the "Elite" critic community and was OFTEN snubbed by Oscar. But his movies grossed very, very well and it's obvious audiences adored them. (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom did EXTREMELY well, but it was panned by most critics....)

Watching SharkTale objectively, it's hard for me to really see why so many critics hated it. It looks nice, has good music, is funny, inventive, good-hearted and makes good use of the voice actors. It doesn't deserve to be Best Animated Film but I think it was worth a nomination anyway....I mean it was FUNNY. What's wrong with that?

And personally I think Madagascar has a shot.

Didn't many of those same critics love Shrek 2, though?

Absolutely nothing. In fact, I'd like to point out that in a number of reviews for Shark Tale, critics noted that their dislike for the film partly stemmed from their feeling that the genre of "CGI comedy" was getting old. In other words, had Shark Tale been released years earlier, it might have gotten considerably better reviews.

I completely agree, though I am not sure if it deserves to beat Corpse Bride for the nomination. Still, Madagascar is not a bad film at all.

I wonder what the animation will be like.
probaply just a notch above the usual quality seen in the series, like Spongebob. South Park stayed just as crappy though
South Park, however, made their movie so friggen ridiculous that it didn't matter. And really, the animation was sorta better.

Godamn I love that movie.

Also, I liked shark tale :(

I think there should be another South Park movie! :)

Yeah but that's the exception...the whole trend is to bash everything DW does that's not Shrek or to say in the bad reviews: "DW hasn't done anything good since Shrek," or "This is a far cry from Shrek..."

And even Shrek and Shrek II have NEVER received anything close to the LOVE LETTERS that Pixar films get. ( I mean, you'd've thought Incredibles was the next Snow White or something.)

Incredibles was a good movie, and so was Nemo, but Critics really went overboard. Just like they did in their hatred for SharkTale....

BTW is it just me or does the plot of SharkTale REALLLLLLLY resemble Aladdin??

1.) "Can't be someone you're not" idea.
2.) I want to be a "somebody" and live "up there."
3.) Guy pretends to be someone he's not so he can get a pretty/rich girl.

They may as well have called the film: "Prince Ali"
