I mean, seriously, hubba-hubba! What else is there to say!? ;)

That you're buying the statue? :D

I am, at any rate. Might get Roger, too.

Someone finally made Jessica sexy again!

She'll probably be the next Disney maq I buy from Electric Tiki after the Mary Blair "Alice in Wonderland" set.

The Shadow Knows! Statue preview at Electric Tiki...

Post by GeorgeC »

Electric Tiki makes far more statues than I can afford!

Some of them are characters that are vaguely familiar to me, others are characters I very much remember.

The Shadow is a character I fell in love with after listening to old radio shows on CD... Many of which are available as free, downloadable mp3s.

A preview of the Tiki Shadow statue being released over the next year...

Note that the statue comes with a replica of the ring his alter-ego wears.

It should turn out better than the Alec Baldwim movie did!

That statue-in-progress looks to be pretty cool. I've enjoyed the radio shows and some of the comics (even the Chaykin and Helfer/Baker ones, which were great comics even if they weren't always faithful to the character).

And am I the only one who kinda liked the Alec Baldwin film?

You're the only one who likes Alec Baldwin, period!

Nah, he's a decent actor but an ass by half in real life...

Anyhow, that's not the point of this post..

UPDATE on the prototype sculpt with more views --

It's looking really good!

I'm with'ya Rand. The Shadow is a guilty pleasure of mine, even though it is an awful movie! ;)

Actually, it's quite good fun, but loses the plot towards the end. It's just so unintentionally amusing though that I always catch it on TV. Seen it about three times in the past year.

Had a friend who worked with Baldwin on an aborted remake of The Devil And Daniel Webster...seems Alec was a decent enough chap during it's making, if more than a little clueless (half the reason the movie sank apparently).

My goodness, those sculpts look the business! The Shadow is another property that I'd love to see done right on the big screen.

Ruben Procopio, ex-Disney animator and master maquette creator, is one of the best sculptors in the pop culture statue business.

He's done a lot of work with Disney and Electric Tiki.

When I look at my very tiny Electric Tiki collection, I've got a LOT of statues he sculpted! Ditto on a lot of the superhero busts I've got. I'd say between those two categories OVER HALF the statues I own were sculpted by him and I didn't realize it! I guess my eye is drawn to his work...

He keeps an update on what he's doing at his blogsite http://maskedavengerstudios.blogspot.com/

Seems like a nice guy, too, and he's a big fan of the Green Hornet and The Phantom which he sculpted as well, too. He's actually doing some work now on new Phantom comics.

I like The Shadow and The Green Hornet as concepts but I can't get into The Phantom...

Believe it or not, I'll see Reuben this weekend too!

Sorry, just had to mention that. :)

He does do great work. It was nice seeing him interviewed in the Alex Toth doc on the Space Ghost set.

You know lately, Rand, every time you speak it's like you're rubbing salt into my wounds!

I'm so jealous!

Now I know how Ben feels when you get to keep the cool stuff that comes up for video review...

But seriously, enjoy Ruben and Timm when you meet them -- and think about how you're depriving the rest of us!!!! :P

Please provide pictures of the meetings with them so we know you're not just making this stuff up!

FYI, for those who don't know me, this post was a joke. I'm NOT that mean to people....

USUALLY.

Jealous, eh? That's just the effect I was going for! ;)

Funny, just before I read your post, I plugged in my camera to charge it!
Hopefully I'll get some good photos.

Did I mention that Margot Kidder will be there too? Having met Noel Neill last summer, this is a great chance to meet a second Lois in less than a year.

In case you're interested, here's the whole guest lineup for this weekend:

Some choice names in there! This will be my first time going to this show, and I'm impressed by all the great names they've got coming.

Well,

We have to enjoy these people while we can. Some of them are really getting up in years!

Noel Neill and Jackie Cooper are both practically 90 now!

Even Mark Hamill is almost 60!

To think I saw Jackie Cooper as one of "The Little Rascals" in reruns on television then turn around and he's Perry White in Superman: The Movie!

My goodness, where does the time go??

Lois AND Perry!!??

"Envious" would be the word I go for, George.

But, by the way, I've been good with the goodies the studios send us. Now I'm up to Blu-ray we've been sharing out the wealth nicely, and there has been a lot to share out over the past month or two!

Yes...do get pics Rand! Maybe even write a small piece up for us? ;)
