The son now grown up with a family finds his dads shrink ray. Will rick be in it? Who knows? Josh gad plays the grown up son. Not sure if it's the first son or the second one.

Actually, I can see Warner using it for reviving that "Goonies: the Next Generation" movie they wanted to make at one point, now that someone's actually coined a word for "Non-linear classic-catalog revival sequels to promote 80's-90's nostalgia house-brand titles".
And they're probably kicking themselves that they didn't think of it first in time for "Blade Runner: 2049".

(But if Disney came up with the word after "Tron: Legacy", that was technically one of the founding first ones, albeit for different reasons.)

It would be nice, but I doubt it. Rick's been on a acting hiatus for years and has said he will be more selective of future roles. When the Ghostbusters reboot came out he also stated "I'm not interested in doing anything I've already done". Chances look slim.

But yeah, this actually sounds pretty intriguing. I love the 1989 original (saw it on the big screen) but never cared a whole lot for the ‘92 sequel. (Also I always thought the title was dumb, as “blew up the kid” could also mean destroyed the kid?? Kinda grisly sounding.)


Plus Rick’s cameo in Family Guy (“Let’s ask Rick Moranis and the backup singers from Little Shop of Horrors!”) was just so perfect.
