Animated Theatre films based on shows!

That's the one I got, but for $8 bucks at Walmart. There are 25 unreleased on disc episodes, but they are available digitally.

I know Rand and I have these from the original DMC releases, but the content is the same. I also have the Goofy Little Christmas DVD that later got a wide release.

I think the "problem" with the Disney shows is that they pretty quickly went from film masters (Gummi Bears, DuckTales) to video masters (most of the 90s), before 16;9 HD in the 2Ks (and eventually digital files), so physically making these things look good on Blu-ray is a lot of time and expense. I never got the Rescue Rangers series BD so can’t know how they handled it, but would suspect original negs for the main portions of the programs and upscales of the video-generated main titles and end credits, with batch DNR to remove debris and grain. Theoretically they could do this for other series as long as they have negs or filmouts, but I know some were mastered to video so would need some magic or reconstruction. Interesting to know how Rescue Rangers sold, as DuckTales with its film masters would look great. Maybe it’s been quiet on that front for a reason…?

No, I don't have the DMC release, and never knew about that wide release. I'd have been slightly tempted prior to the advent D+, but I never actually watched Goof Troop too much.

Now, a DuckTales complete set on BD would be tempting. Or Darkwing Duck, if they could swing it.

I would definitely go for DuckTales too. Probably Gummi Bears and, it’ll never happen, Wuzzles. Those are the three I’d get on Blu from the 80s/90s Disney TV series.

That is so bizarre that a CGI reboot film got made for something so obscure.

I didn’t even remember the CG movie! But you can totally see that working in the post-Shrek world. Shame it wasn’t picked up by a bigger studio and given bigger cast and promotion, even if we know the likelihood of it being any good are probably slim to none.

I submitted a thread about it, back when.

I also looked into seeing A Wizard's Tale in a theater .. but the closest it was playing to me was over an hour's drive away, in Orange County. I wound-up buying the movie on Google Play, instead.

I enjoyed it, well enough .. but I'll admit I don't recall much about it, overall. The most memorable gag (IMO) was -- during a chase sequence mixed with a wizard's battle -- the characters all (very briefly!) morphed into their 1960s character designs.

Yeah. So, they based a film off of an old TV show, but then changed the title to something totally unrecognizable? Sure, almost no one remembers the show, but it's weird to sacrifice what little name value it had for something so awfully generic.

It does make me want to see the show, though.
