I've recommended and pushed his links a few times here, which is why I was surprised you didn't know him. He's one of the big, well known animation historians (along with Beck and Canemaker) and an important one to be reading.

At least "Jungle Book" gets to wear its official "Last" badge.

Actually, this has also gotten lost in time:

The AristoCats was the last, last, <I>last</I> feature to have Walt's hands on it. Remember that an animated film takes three to four years to develop and make. The entire cast of characters, voice suggestions and the initial completed storyline for The AristoCats had been finalised by Ken Anderson <I>and</I> fully approved by Walt to be the next feature in the pipeline well before he died. Origins of The AristoCats go back, I believe, as far as 1964!

Of course, shortly after his death we also got Blackbeard's Ghost, The Happiest Millionaire and The Love Bug...all personally produced Walt films that were truly among his "last" productions.

Even with Dalmatians, though, you can't honestly say that was "among" his last films. The guy had five-six years to live! You could go post-Poppins' high point in 1964, but really, saying Dalmatians is even "among" his last films is cack. Should we all start paying The Sword In The Stone and the first Winnie The Pooh with similar reverential treatment?

Lighthousemike in the ultimatedisney forum has posted some scans from the Ratatouille dvd and a better scan of the Dalmatians cover. http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... hp?t=21255 I like it alot better, the shading is more aligned with past dvds. The only thing that I think still needs work is Cruella, I think it was just pasted in.
