Post by James »

Animated Views is looking for the best films of the decade, and we need your help! Head to this page to view a list of over 100 films released theatrically in the United States from 2001 to 2010. Rank your top 15 and we'll combine your choices with those of our other readers. On December 29th we'll reveal our Reader Best of the Decade Film List!

Any Animated Views reader may vote with no registration needed, but only one ballot per household please. Additional ballots coming from the same IP address will be discarded. No prizes - this time it's just for fun!

Feel free to discuss your picks here.

Gotta say .. it was a pretty amazing decade for animated features! :D

Narrowing it to a 'top 15' (and then ranking them!) will be tough. :|

Went ahead and sent my votes. :D Didn't let myself put too much thought into it, since God knows I suck when it comes to making choices sometimes. ;) Also wanted to pick some films that I didn't think would get many votes, which is why I included only three Pixar films.

Here be me picks:

#1 "How to Train Your Dragon" (I'm in love with this movie. So there)
#2 "Coraline"
#3 "Ratatouille"
#4 "The Incredibles"
#5 "Millenium Actress"
#6 "Kung Fu Panda"
#7 "Flushed Away"
#8 "Treasure Planet"
#9 "Ice Age"
#10 "Lilo & Stitch"
#11 "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit"
#12 "Shrek 2"
#13 "Tangled"
#14 "Wall-E"
#15 "Horton Hears a Who!"

My list is a tad Pixar heavy, but you can't fault them for consistency. I wanted to put Chicken Run on my list, but then noticed you were going for 2001-2009, which is fine.

Anyway, my picks:

1. Wall-E
2. Spirited Away
3. The Princess and the Frog
4. Lilo & Stitch
5. Toy Story 3
6. The Incredibles
7. Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
8. Finding Nemo
9. Ponyo
10. Monsters, Inc.
11. Shrek
12. Ratatouille
13. Up
14. Tangled
15. How to Train Your Dragon

Just wondering if it was an oversight to the omission of Tales From Earthsea from the list?

I was about to tell you that it was on the list but after double checking it is not! I could have sworn it was there! But there are several films that we didn't put on the list because it was starting to get unwieldy. For anything missing feel free to send in an email ballot.

Tough choices, to be sure, but here's what I settled on (though I might make totally different picks tomorrow, and keeping in mind I haven't seen all of this year's films yet so I'm basically guessing on some):

Toy Story 3
Spirited Away
How to Train Your Dragon
The Incredibles
Ratatouille
Corpse Bride
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Kung Fu Panda
Coraline
Horton Hears a Who
Shrek 2
Tangled
Surf's Up
The Illusionist
Wall*E

I think this was my list. I submitted mine the other day, but I'm struggling to remember the order they were in.

WALL-E
Ratatouille
Toy Story 3
How to Train Your Dragon
The Incredibles
Lilo and Stitch
Tangled
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Spirited Away
Kung Fu Panda
A Town Called Panic
Finding Nemo
Up
Waltz With Bashir
Surf's up

That should be more or less accurate.

After two days, the top four spots are separated by a razor thin margin and change with just about every new vote!

I added a bit of code to help entrants notice if they have duplicates on their ballot. Let me know if I accidentally introduced any bugs!

I don't want to be a tease but interim results of the poll are interesting! As I said earlier, four movies are neck and neck for the top spot. In fact, three different films have held the top spot at the end of each of the last three days.

I'm confused. Shouldn't it be from the years 2000-2009. 2010 starts a new decade.
