Starchaser Legend of Orin.

Post by Severen »

Brilliantly animated, well made and enjoyable PG-rated adult animated Sci-fi fantasy adventure epic that maybe a mix of Star Wars, Avatar, the story of Moses, Heavy Metal, Krull and Rock and Rule all in one.

Les Tremain plays 2 voices and also features Michael Winslow of Police Academy fame as a voice. I saw this in theatrers when i was 4 years old in 3D no doubt as it was an exprience.

Who thinks this is the 80's version of Avatar? in fact this is one of the movies Cameron borrowed for his movie since he loved Starchaser, i mean there are similarities of young man becoming a hero to a race of people and a similar planet world like the one shown in Starchaser plus similar use of 3D.

Well, Starchaser itself was pretty derivative (though enjoyable). In another thread, we'd already examined the many influences of Avatar, though Starchaser wasn't mentioned, I don't think.

I think Starchaser has been mentioned recently here, in connection to something else (probably Avatar), or at least in passing.

I reviewed it for DVD a few years back (wow...2005!):
