This could well be Pixar's first bad movie. It's also their last with Disney, which makes you wonder if they screwed it up out of spite. The trailers are horrendous, the animation is bland and uninteresting, and the plot… it's flat out stupid. It looks like one of those train shows for toddlers that used to run on PBS. What was that thing called? Tommy the train or something? Replace him with cars. Horrendous. Unless the trailers are just totally off, this one may end up as a huge misstep from Hollywood's only infallible movie studio.
It's not in Pixar's interests to do anything out of spite - that's just heresay and stupid to follow it.
Any intentional screwing up on Pixar's behalf would make them, in a town where you're "only as good as your last movie", unattractive to potential new suitors, and less of a "threat" in staying with Disney.
In both cases, a box office misfire from Pixar drops them in the unfavorable position and lose their upper hand in dealing with a new company or Disney.
You can bet that Pixar are going flat out to make Cars as best as it can be, including "re-tooling" (sorry, couldn't resist) in the extra time they have given themselves.
Direct from folks who are really in a position to know:
Cars is one of Pixar's all time best yet.
Never, NEVER, discount Pixar.
And I wouldn't count on "Cinema Blend" to give you any straight scoop. They have as much inside information on animation as my dog has. Actually, my dog probably has more.
Where exactly are the other 3 trailers for Cars? Actually, I guess it's only 2 I need to find cos' I'm presuming the first one is the one where the truck runs into the bumble bee at the start. Anywho, anyone know if these other ones are online yet?
