My favorite Warners description at the moment is for the other alternate Joker movie, which is said to be "darker than the usual DC movie fare". How darker can they be? Pitch black perhaps?

My hunch is they mean "R-rated."

Spoiler-free review for Teen Titans Go! To The Movies is up!

Whether you watch the show or not, I think superhero fans (especially DC fans) should give it a chance!

Saw it today. It's hilarious! Even the poop joke made me laugh (sorry?), and there are a ton of Easter Eggs spread throughout the film.

Shame it doesn't appear to have been catching on much BO wise, but the budget for this one was apparently fairly small at $10 million, so it should be fine.

Interesting if true. And also a darn shame. I've always liked Cavill in the role...

I think Cavill had the potential, but he was hampered by material that didn't allow him to really shine in the role. I honestly feel that, because of the material, he's definitely in contention with being regarded as the least popular to have played the character. The other being Routh probably, but it seems like his likability might increase a bit as a result of how Cavill was received a result of what he had to work with and what he was in.

Well, simply nothing planned yet. That could conceivably change, but we shall see. Looks like Superman is not a priority. Too bad. I'd like to see a MoS 2, pitting Cavill against Brainiac.

It is really hard to judge Cavill, due to the material. He came off quite stiff and stoic, but we saw glimpses in Justice League that he could actually be a decent Superman. He even smiled once or twice!

Well, then there's this. Looks more definitive now.

That sound you hear is Wonder Woman kicking Batman to the curb outside of WB studios...

It was reported a while back that a new Superman film was being put aside in favour of Supergirl. And Joss Whedon famously left the Batgirl project. Only Zatanna is news.

But yeah, it looks like Wonder Woman's success has had an impact! Add in Birds of Prey, and it looks like a (largely) female direction for DC films.

Or, basically: let’s go in the current zeitgeist direction of what sucked the least in the DCU... ;)

At the moment, Warner is on their "Franchise Wave 2.0", as they've finally come to grips that their "Holy Trinity" of Batman, The Hobbit, and Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts have at last burned themselves out through extended bungling, and the search is on to find the Next Identifiable Warner House Brand to keep the studio alive with reboots/prequels/ancillary marketing over the next five years.

As the auditions continue over '19-'20, expect to be force-fed a LOT of, in no particular order:
Willy Wonka, Beetlejuice, The Matrix, The Wizard of Oz, A Christmas Story/Elf, Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey version), Space Jam, and...Wonder Woman. As in, WW and not Batman, although "Birds of Prey" is back in the works.
If Aquaman doesn't deliver next December, they're not even planning to market DC to the guys over the foreseeable future.

I will bet they’re hoping Aquaman will deliver THIS December. Why would they wait until next December...!?

Basically, WB have woken up to the fact that they own a bunch of properties that could do for them what Disney is doing with their remakes. Most of what you listed above has already been announced or in development, with a lot of it headed to television via HBO, Amazon or Netflix, although WB will still be producing for those outlets, or at least be enjoying ancillary rights.

The age of having our pasts come back to haunt us - from any studio - is far from over yet! Even "new" stuff like Mortal Engines and Artemis Fowl feels derivative, regurgitated and repackaged...
