American sniper and inception also returning to amc and some chains will show lord of the rings, raiders of the lost ark, spaceballs (!!!), back to the future and kiki's delivery service. (i would have picked spirited away or totoro myself.)

So....Fathom screenings, basically.

At the same time, AMC also announced they're not going to have a mandatory mask policy, since they "didn't want to get into" the issue, which is going to either scare away half their customers or spawn a boycott.
Cinemark and Regal, of course, will make a big show of doing the right thing, which only digs AMC even further.

(...Do I seem a little too EAGER to dig Multiplex Theaters' grave by the end of '21? )

China's first day of box office made over $500k on first day!

Coco added more to it's box office in third place!
As Chinese cinemas began the reopening process today, box office crossed $472K by 8PM local. Maoyan’s real-time ticketing platform reports that play is led by new entry A First Farewell at around $184K. Following it is the re-issue of Christmas title Sheep Without A Shepherd at about $80K and Disney/Pixar’s Coco in 3rd with just over $42K.

Love it! If only a regular, non-covid week could give us a box-office rundown as mostly awesome as that!

Which version of Beauty is that? I don't want to be too happy if it's the live action version.

Ack! I hadn’t even thought of that! Just naturally assumed it was the toon! I’d pretty much deleted the live abomination from memory — thanks for just reminding me, grrr!!

My apologies. I try very hard to forget it, but YouTube keeps recommending I watch videos about how horrible it is. So I can't forget it.
