Like I said, I tend not to pay much attention to anything he says. Seems like the same is true, for California's leaders .. not that this seems to improve the situation, here.
It is an insane situation. Good on Fox News, of all things, to press him on this, though he just waves a piece of paper that says "best mortality rate" on it and repeats the claim.
In a way, he’s right: the US does have "the best", since it’s the highest! The way his brain works, he probably thinks the more the better. "That's how it works, right? People tell me that’s how it works".
Mind you, it’s no better here. Per 100,000 capita, the UK works out about three times as many deaths as the next country down the list, the US placing around sixth. But that’s just an average based on population, not the actual number of deaths.
But it is crazy. We have several acquaintances in California, and my oldest best pal now lives in San Diego, and we think of you guys everyday. Be safe.
Our numbers in the province jumped a bunch the past month. Oddly, the cities remain relatively unaffected, while most of the new cases are in Hutterite colonies! About 20 colonies are affected, accounting for an incredible 76% of the province's cases! I didn't even know there were so many colonies here (Hutterites are similar to the Amish), but apparently there are about 80 colonies in Saskatchewan. Huh. And they are not all following public health orders, obviously. How frustrating. Who ever figured the Hutterites would be such a problem for us? It makes sense, though, that a group living in a communal setting, and eschewing outside influences, might not be on board for fighting a pandemic. (They do, however, complain now that no one wants to buy their vegetables.)
Anyhow, they seem to travel mostly betwen colonies, so that's where the cases are being found. Hopefully it stays that way. Most of the outbreaks now seem to be under control.
