The problem with seeing concept art is that I start to imagine what a CG movie would have looked like if done hand drawn. And truthfully I only do this with Disney films, since that's their history. I never do it with Pixar concept art.

I do think mostly, though, that not only is concept art increasingly digital anyway, but that CG is probably closer to the detail and depth than would be achieved in a traditional production technique. Once you start to "flatten out" all that to accommodate the characters and the need to create all the backgrounds, then CG actually does make quite the case for itself in preserving the initial look. I find the Pixar art to be much more hyper-real or stylised as a result, since it is always designed with the change to CG in mind and usually goes for tone or mood over a concept for an actual scene. That all said, I would still love Disney to produce a gorgeously fluid traditional feature again.

Tomorrows the big day. Theaters and Premier Access on Disney+. Like I mentioned already, I'll wait for when it goes free. I'm not exactly itching to see it. My local theater is still closed so even if I wanted to I would be out of luck. With things still how they are, I don't even think I would want to try...

Refuse to waste $30 on disney access crap i don't even own. Might go to the movies to see it but may not get to go this weekend. (at least i would get out unlike that access crap.) Our movies is doing a good job with safety. (better then our wal-mart is!)

Two to three tickets to the theatre can cost $30, and at home you can watch if as much as you want for that much. So I think it’s a pretty good deal especially for families with kids.

As a single person with no kids or anyone else living in their house, it's just not worth the $35 I have to pay in Oz. The cinema experience will be cheaper, even with food and a drink. I'll make a day of it since I need to travel to my local cinema, so a mini adventure awaits me tomorrow. And so grateful that Australia acted quickly and smartly with covid so I can go back to the cinema safely. I worked out I haven't been in a cinema since Jumanji: The Next Level. Which I'm glad I saw after Cats cause I would feel really embarrassed saying the last movie I saw in a cinema was Cats.
