As of now, I really don't think Chicken Little has a shot.

Madagascar is....a left-field option. :( DW might win it since they haven't won in four years.

Corpse Bride is too weird...Valiant's not gonna get a nom...I think it's between Howl's Moving Castle and Wallace and Gromit, both kind of "foreign films."

EDIT: Oops, forgot about Hoodwinked.
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

I'd like Corpse Bride to win; being the Tim Burton-Danny Elfman-Johnny Depp-fangirl that I am ;)

Though I'm thinking Wallace and Gromit will end up winning.(Still need to see that one.)

Nominations: Madagascar, Chicken Little & Wallace and Grommit
Winner: Chicken Little (I really hope CL wins)

As for the rest of the oscars, I'm hoping the technical awards go to Narnia. I would love Narnia to get a Best Picture nod, but I don't think the academy would do that. But for the rest of the awards, Brokeback Mountain will likely win everything it is nominated for.

Good call on the noms although I expect W&G to win over CL.

Narnia is a good tech call but you're right that it's doubtful to get a nom in BP.

While Brokeback is favored also look for Walk the Line to give some competition after sweeping Picture/Actor/Actress at the Globes. Brokeback is still the favorite for Director and Supporting Actress but look for a foot race in Picture and Actor category since Ledger didn't hold up at the globes (though I'll admit Brokeback is still the favorite in Picture) - plus WtL has an easy win in the Actress category. Look for Cinderella Man to take Supporting Actor.

I'd love Narnia to win best picture too, but everyone knows some boring artsy-farsty movie will get it....As always...

I'd think the final three would be Corpse Bride, Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Little. Maybe Howl's Moving Castle.
Go claymation!!!

Stop-Motion is the better term, but I still agree. :)

Narnia?

C'mon, that movie will not be nominated in anything other than the technical awards...sound effects, visual effects, costumes and sets.

If it wins anything, it certainly won't be for the awful editing anyway!

I don't think Tilda Swinton will be nominated, but I think she should be receiving more consideration from voters. I was pretty impressed by her performance as the White Witch.

Agh, I forgot about Narnia! Personally I thought the effects were better than King Kong...

I know, but I think it should. Especially the performance for the White Witch.

You know, the Oscar people are always complaining about ratings & they think that it's the Host that makes or breaks the ratings. Although a good host won't hurt (like Crystal or Degeneres), people watch the Oscars for the nominations. If a bunch of small art-house films take most of the nominations people aren't going to watch. Who cares if "A Single Journey into the Mountains of Agrabah" is nominated for a bunch of awards (btw, I made that up). Now if big films (like Narnia, RotS, Kong, etc) got nominations, people would actually watch.

On a completely different note, will there be another chat group set up for this Academy Awards (like we had here last year)?
