Illumination's Migration
Re: Illumination's Migration
I was on the fence with if I was going to get the disc, but Dacey just sold it to me!
Re: Illumination's Migration
Before: Not the least bit interested in the bird movie.
Now: Hmmmm..... Maybe!
Apparently, the theatrical 3D is also really good. Too bad it'll likely never be on Blu-ray 3D.

I know, right!? Much more interested in seeing this now.Randall wrote: January 7th, 2024, 6:29 pm Before: Not the least bit interested in the bird movie.

Well, you're still the resident third dimension guy round these here parts, and I don't mind it when it’s done well and native to the project. It's unlikely we get a 3D disc — and nowadays I'd easily go for a 4K over a 3D simply because more people on the room can see the darned thing than the two pairs of specs I have — but these things do get the occasional title emerge from somewhere or other around the world.Randall wrote: January 7th, 2024, 6:29 pm Apparently, the theatrical 3D is also really good. I’m kind of surprised it's still a Thing, really, since cinema 3D has dropped even more than regular attendance, and I kind of still think it should be somewhat reserved for the theatrical experience anyway, if you're going to do it, to make that experience more "special", like Imax or other gimmicks you can't get in the home. CinemaScope was, after all, a cinema exclusive for a good thirty years before we started getting letterboxed LaserDiscs in the 80s!
Re: Illumination's Migration
It's a very good kids movie. I'll probably never watch it again. But there have so much worse things the past few years that it's nice to see something not terrible!
Re: Illumination's Migration
How would you compare with Ferdinand? Lots of people didn’t think it was all that, but I found it charming, for some reason. More of a kids movie, sure, but with a genuine heart, I thought.
Re: Illumination's Migration
I really liked Ferdinand too. Migration was not on the same level. Again, not bad, just a basic kids story done well.

Re: Illumination's Migration
It is positively beautiful movie, and sensitive viewers may find themselves welling up while wishing every person who doesn't feel like they fit in could find a place just like that.James wrote: January 29th, 2024, 9:50 pm I really liked Ferdinand too. Re: Illumination's Migration
Congrats to migration. It has made its budgets back this weekend and has now made a profit!
Re: Illumination's Migration
Awesome! I've been wanting to go see it but have been far too busy. Will definitely stream it!
Re: Illumination's Migration
I’ll pick up the disc, though on the fence over BD or 4K.
Re: Illumination's Migration
Completely unconfirmed, but Pixar is reportedly working on a movie called “Ducks”…

Take that with a grain of salt, of course, as this is apparently a leak if it’s legit, since it’s currently not being reported by major outlets (yet).

Re: Illumination's Migration
If it’s true, I’m definitely interested!
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!
Re: Illumination's Migration
Could be a code word.
Of course, if this came along in three/four years time and clashed with Migration 2, if that happens, then that would be a bad idea and one could quite rightly suggest Pixar may have some kind of a…mallardy.
Ithankyou, I’m here all week.
