Since Butch Hartman has his own animation studio (again?), reminder that this is one of roughly 10,000 failed pilots he produced, and they’re all of this “quality”…

Sigh. I know it's gotta be a rights nightmare, but this film is a grail item for me.

I’d love to see this "properly" too. I guess WB has it now…? It’s on the Internet Archive for a view.

I didn’t link, as there are several of various cuts and quality so it might take a bit of time to go through and find a decent/best one. :)

Mmm, 1080p and no scratches? Could it be someone is working on a resto? This would look and sound great in even HD and 5.1 (I won’t wish for 4K and Atmos yet!). Is this clip from a broadcast airing? You can see a logo has been "removed" in the bottom right corner. Maybe someone somewhere has access to good/restored elements on this after all…

Looks like it may be…apart from the logo removal — which admittedly most people wouldn’t notice — it’s a very solid image. He’s done a nice job to present this in a more watchable version. Do you have a link to that IA version? :)

This Dua Lipa music video is a couple years old .. but it just showed up again in my YT feed, and IMO it does an impressive job of capturing an authentic 'vintage 1980s anime' vibe. There's a little Urusei Yatsura, a hint of Minky Momo, sprinkles of Macross, etc. :)

Looks like they may have done a filmout for this, or at least have a great filter that mimics the photochemical magic that only happens with real film.

This has been mentioned before, but it reminded me — and I’m sure it was a bit inspired by — this, from really for real 1985…

A year ago, I posted the first two episodes of Punch Punch Forever! in this thread.

and now -- at long last! -- PPF! episode 3 has been released .. and it hasn't lost a step..!

:!: however -- where the first couple episodes kinda skated to the edge of 'PG-13' content (and slightly past it, if I'm being honest) -- this third episode is very definitely "Outside the Lines," especially for foul language .. so, I decided to post it as a hyperlink, rather than an inline youtube video. :!:

It's still got a high 'laughs-per-second' ratio .. and it's chock-full of clever anime tropes/in-jokes and over-the-top silliness. Even the faked 'vintage videotape' artifacts are enjoyable..!

But definitely only watch it without any kids around.

a very clever and fun ad for a 'stop motion' add-on for Blender.

.. worth a watch even if you're not a CG artist.

.. and here's a trailer for a video game coming next year which apparently utilizes actual for-real stop motion (for cutscenes, at least; not sure whether gameplay is also stop-mo).
