Well there are tons of monster legends around the world. It could be one of them. Dragons, Loch Ness, Jersey Devil, The Chupacabra, etc. Check out Wikipedia. I've been tempted to write stories based on monster legends more than once.:P

Nooo! They can't do something with dragons yet because I have an idea for that. They'll just have to wait until I'm working for them. ^__^

Isn't DW doing a film called "How to Train your Dragon"?

This must be the book then:

How To Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell

Cressida Cowell has also written a book called How To Speak Dragonese, the language the main character of HTTrainYD has the ability to speak.

Funny though...

All this talk of having a "choice" just proves my long held thought that the "story dictates the technique" blah that the execs had talked about was a load of baloney.

So, all these CG films could have been made in much more striking hand-drawn ways after all?? ;)

Hey Ben, before Brad Bird is in Pixar, isn't it slated to be a 2d feature? Would still be awesome either way, but I like the Incredibles the way it is
*insert witty comment*

Weird interview: (about Toy Story)

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f ... EBPAB1.DTL

Why do they say Disney "hated" what they did and wanted to shut down production? Wasn't it Pixar who wanted to quit halfway through? According to DisneyWar there were a lot of story problems, it wasn't just that Disney didn't like what Pixar was doing, Pixar was having problems as well. A lot of the work for TS was also done in WDFA, which the article doesn't mention. (just "suggestions" which were scrapped because Lassetter's ideas were better.)

And it doesn't mention Katzenberg's suggestion to Lassetter that he make it a buddy movie.

But whatever.

All this talk of having a "choice" just proves my long held thought that the "story dictates the technique" blah that the execs had talked about was a load of baloney.
I totally agree....executives as well as Pixar. They're going to keep making 3d because they prefer it, not just "oh, the right story hasn't come along." 3d IS Pixar, it's part of their whole sub-culture. To make a 2d film would mean a radical overhaul of the way they've done stuff. (In my opinion.) Oh, and it might also mean that other thing--taking a risk.

Still, I wouldn't use something like Flash to animate anything other than online games and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Heehee.
Neither one was Flash.

Neither one? What else are you referring to other than the Monsters, Inc. opening?

And, um, how do you know that for sure?
