Okay, I saw a preview for this film yesterday at "The Departed". Now, I've been hearing that in this film, the actors are shot in front of blue screen and then inserted into digital backgrounds, like in "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". But in the preview, the actors looked computer-generated. Like in "Final Fantasy" and stuff like that. So is this just an animated movie after all? I'm confused.

I watched the trailer, and the actors look live-action to me. So, I guess it's not an animated movie.

The process used to make
300 is somewhat similar to that used in
Sin City and
Sky Captain . Take this picture, from
Wikipedia , for instance:
The top frame was taken during filming. The bottom frame is an image from the movie.
If you're interested in learning more about the making of
300 ,
Coming Soon has eight video journals.

Yeah, but it still looks like the actors are being "Animated" somehow.
Is it rotoscoping?

It's just lighting and color grading WJ.

Well, everyone keeps saying it's not animated, I guess I'll believe them.
Still, I do think there's something CGI about this still:

I see what you mean, though it's just the lighting and whatnot.

Whoa is right!
My brother and his senior class went to see this at 12:01 on Friday morning. He spent the rest of the day shouting "SPAAAARTAAAAA!" at the top of his lungs.

Hmmm. I bet that was annoying.
I can't wait to see it now. I should be going sometime this week.

Many were predicting a huge take for this. Wow. Made back its budget in a weekend. That doesn't happen much these days.
I've officially added that to my list of films I intend to go and see but will probably end up watching on disc in my home theater.
