Upcoming movie news links
Saw it last night...Very entertaining, I really enjoyed it. However, not everyone who sees it is going to love it - I think a lot of people will actually come out of the theater hating it, so expect some mixed reactions!
Some points I'd like to make...
The hand-held camera feel worked well, I think. Some people complained of motion sickness but I got used to it after a few minutes. Maybe it depends on how used to that kind of thing you are - those who play a lot of video games or watch online videos might have an easier time with it than people who are more used to smooth, swooping camera moves of regular films.
[This one is concerning the monster, though I'm going to avoid being too specific and giving anything away]
Also, I read a tip online to stay through the credits, as did a bunch of other people in the theater. While there is a lovely overture by Micheal Giacchino in there, everyone who stayed after was a bit miffed when nothing else happened. 
Lastly, there's a Star Trek teaser trailer in front of it as well, which was a nice surprise.
UPDATE: Yeah, I'm reading more and more reports that there's something after the credits...Was it part of th credits, something you had to read? Only thing I saw that was amusing was the credit given to Nick for using SpongeBob clips...Did I miss it?

Yes, I did a tiny amount of work on Cloverfield last summer .. basically, I just built simple geometry which the pre-viz artists at Third Floor used to block-out the Brooklyn Bridge and Subway Tunnel sequences. None of my actual model work appears in the finished film; it was strictly in 'animatics', which were then used as reference by the final FX teams.
It was a fun job .. but my part of it only lasted a couple of weeks, and then I was on to something else. To be honest, I did so little, that I wasn't really expecting a credit on the film (I've done far more work on certain other films, in which I went uncredited) .. but I'd found out through a friend who saw an 'advance' screening that I was indeed in there.

I've yet to see the first (probably Monday) but a second sounds like a movie too far.
The monster in the city has been done to death and the only thing Cloverfield brought to things was the gimmicky camera shake.
Basically, what's the point, apart from money, in simply repeating the trick? As with the Blair Witches, I hope it bombs, personally.
