Re: The Princess and the Frog

Post by Once Upon A Dream »

I also thought the same thing,I saw the logo but I never noticed the frogs :o thanks,Dusterian :D,anyway maybe the ending was about them turn into frogs? or maybe they both got turned into frogs and the film was about them need to find a cure?.
Yeah, the new title is much better, and even better then the Frog Prince :D,in the original story she was spoiled? if she was then shouldn't she be the cursed one? :? (after all,she needs a lesson if she does) thought I think that it makes more sense if she was nice and he wanted more (sleeping with her, kiss and etc.),like Beauty and the Beast?.
Well,Aladdin is more about the Prince (Well,Jasmine is also a hero but he's the hero of the film),I think it's a different Disney Princess movie.

Well Once, the spoiled princess learns to be nice to the frog and treat him like a person because he is has a good soul...or personality.

I guess Aladdin is a little like a Disney Prince film!

So she is spoiled one? but she wasn't cursed :P,thought Wikipedia said that in some version he turns into a Prince when she throws him into a wall (thought they have a funny version of the original Sleeping Beauty with the queens dies after she doesn't understand who a guy can fell in love with a sleeping girl and the Prince screaming for whole 5 hours when he think that everybody in the castle died).
Yeah,Aladdin is a little Disney Prince film (thought... there is a Princess, and she seems much importent and it's also her film).

You'r very far from it! The movie will feature 2 frogs, one male and one female and maybe not only one princess..... :D Can't tell much more without spoiling it!

Disney's The Princess and the Frog

Post by Dusterian »

Am I the only one who thinks that image of the alligator and the frogs and the swamp...is not very good? The only good I see is the background, which still looks a little too Bambi (which the art is supposedly partially be inspired by) and the Rescuers, but still nice and kind of fairy tale beautiful. But the alligator looks so...generic, and not like a fairy tale character at all! Why can't these creatures be as distinctly stylized as Snow White's, Cinderella's, Aurora's, or Giselle's animals? And finally, aside from the background, the animation looks really DTV. Especially with that lighting.

Since we have seen anything actually move yet, I'd say it's too early to judge how good the animation is. Besides, that screen was pretty low-quality anyway - not a good image to judge the whole movie from.

No film should be judged by one image.

Except maybe The Ten Commandments

Well, I think here is the best place to voice my other concerns, and to people who may know: will Disney be able to go back to the standard of animation it was before? Even as the stories sucked, the animation always stayed on top. But after they shut down and sold off the animation desks, we only saw less than Pixar-perfect CGI and then Enchanted's animation, which was, though beautiful, not as good as it could have been. I have fear...is it possible they could have forgotten or lost the ways to make the animation as good as it once was? Are remnants of the old lessons and techniques still alive, or sold off with the desks?

I understand your fear totally Dusterian. One of my professors (formally a disney animator) was showing us a book of caricatures and was concerned how the quality of the talent they had left had decreased. I might be afraid they won't know what they are doing. I'm sure they will hire a bunch of new people or rehire old ones but they won't be in a rythm. People will have to learn how to work together and efficiently again. I think this film will be an experiment to see how well they do. I just hope that they keep trying. ^.^

Actually he does look like Aurora's owl,Pip and Jaq and Gus.
But I agree with your fear, thought the animation in Enchanted was very pretty :D.
