You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Um...it's two days into 2009. Exactly 12 months to go before this opens. We won't see anything until around the toy fairs in the spring.

Well, that's just it...DO they want to see a "sequel to a massive hit" that pretty much made its money just for showing up?

Keep in mind, in '07, Alvin was King of the Wasteland...Bravely distracting viewers away from the prospect of being thrilled by "Fred Claus" or that Loch Ness Monster thingy, without any icky old Narnian princes around to grab all the attention.
Had that one "Dear gods, why MAY??" decision gone otherwise, we would be talking about a very different Christmas season.
(Just as this November would have been particularly vampire-free if Harry Potter had shown up on schedule, and delusional television dogs and their hamster sidekicks might've had a fighting chance.)

Kids may want one movie (and only ONE) during Christmas vacation, but let's face it:
Parents may be desperate, but they're not...exactly....DIM. 8)

I really wish Disney would reschedule The Princess and the Frog - even if it means placing the film into 2010. I'm afraid that if Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakel crushes - or even simply beats - Princess at the box office, some studio executives will get the wrong message. Instead of thinking, "Oh, a sequel to a family film that grossed over $217 million defeated another family film," they will think, "Well, that proves it: Audiences prefer hip computer animated movies over traditionally animated films."

That's exactly my fear. They opened Caspian against Indy 4 - a much more highly anticipated film - and claimed it must mean no one wants more Narnia which really isn't true.

I remember reading in a Jim Hill about Bolt's sucess and they thought they don't need big promotions (So that's why Enchanted and Bolt had weak promotion) and they"re planning huge promotion for The Princess And The Frog.
