Mailed my ballot late on the 15th, so it'll probably show up later--
I'm cynically expecing another "half-'n-half" sweeps mentality divided between Slumdog and Benjamin Gump (neither of which deserve it, but I'm trying to analyze the primitive thinking of Los Angeles voters), with technicals for one and majors for the other.
Oh, and if anyone needs help trying to figure out the Documentary, Shorts and Foreign, Oscar.com has brief info pages on all the nominees, including one-sentence synops.
I know staff are not eligible to enter, but I just added my toon cents' worth. It's a close race this year for sure, but I think I'm pretty safe on Steven Okazaki for The Conscience Of Nhem En, and Jochen Alexander Freydank's Spielzeugland.
I am surprised you had any non-forum members enter at all as I was not able to post at all until I got my confirmation e-mail. I hope that will qualify me as being a forum member. I found you by virtue of looking for Oscar contests and loved the prize. I have several of these but have younger relations who might appreciate the dupes. I have to say that I've scored in the top Oracles on Variety.com for 6 years in a row so y'all are facing some competition. (And by bragging, have thus doomed myself to coming in last and rightfully suffering derision and scorn after the results are posted...)
Hey -- I didn't even notice this was the fifth anniversary of our contest! Here are the past winners and how they did. Results are out of (22) categories.
2005: DarrenBest (18)
2006: dgaspar (18) and Mercury52 (18)
2007: Jim Figley (14)
2008: MrDy83 (16)

As someone who used to take the day off from work each year to wait in line for hours at the El Capitan for the opening night of each Disney Animated Feature film in its last "glory days of animation", I think I will find much to keep me interested.
Good luck everybody and enjoy the chatting. Unfortunately some people who live in a different hemisphere can't enjoy the OSCARS live due to work commitments LOL I may be able to join you for the last hour though. Fingers crossed.
