This is purely a curiosity question. But is Nausicaa technically eligible for this list? I thought that Miyazaki wanted to make it as a film first but the only way he could get funding for the film was to put it out as a manga (is that the right term?) first. When the manga was successful, Miyazaki was able to obtain funding as there was an in-built audience for the film. So technically Nausicaa isn't really a comic book turned movie movie as it was originally conceived as a movie screenplay.

I'll return with my Top 10 soon.

I always have trouble ranking things, so here's my top 10 in no particular order:

1. Watchmen
2. The Dark Knight
3. Batman Returns
4. Superman
5. X2: X-Men United
6. The Incredible Hulk
7. The Mask
8. Men In Black
9. Dick Tracy
10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

EDIT: oops. Forgot about Sin City. Okay, so it's a top 11.

Funny thing about that: Years ago (back in the late 90s I think), Nickelodeon was going to make a Bone movie based on the first two books (Out From Boneville and The Great Cow Race) and Jeff Smith was going to direct it himself. It's too bad it never came together. I could see Bone being done as an anime-esque tv series, meaning a direct adaptation with each episode covering 2 or 2 1/2 issues of the comic until they get to the end. T'would be sweet.

Yah, I heard that once. They wanted to put in pop songs tho and Jeff didn't like that. Well, I agree with him completely. Pop songs don't belong in Bone. I saw somewhere that Warner Brothers is now making a Bone movie. Let's hope those stay true to the books.
