There is already a DVD of the stop motion animated 1950's version of the Hansel and Gretel opera by Humperdinck , but it's quality is barely watchable , washed out colours and VHS quality picture - better than nothing - but only just!
The trouble is it's only a minority audience , realistically any distributor would sell so few copies that an all talking singing dancing restoration would just be a waste of money and yet is does have a kind of quaint 1950's charm!
I remember they finally had the idea to changed the Sandman's aria to a male tenor--
Which seemed to make sense, as it always seemed a bit confusing to have "him" singing soprano in the original opera.
