It reminds me of those posts that pop up on my social media feed from people who like to look really smart by overanalysing movies/books but I just end up rolling my eyes thinking 'You know what most of the time an A is just an A' I don't know what it is like in other countries but I'm blaming it on English curriculum where they've moved away from teaching the concept of English and moving into literature and movie appreciation and overanalysing everything to the nth degree. Suddenly everybody becomes an expert in finding things that are not there.

Same here--Pretty much the first thing we all thought of when we saw the Bloglist Guy Who Thinks He's a Hoot try to tell the exact same joke.
(And besides, Arthur Dawes Sr. was the antagonist of the movie, if anyone was.)

Disney legend Glynis Johns, who played Mrs. Banks, passes away at 100. An absolute icon. Lived a good long life. Rest well Sister Suffragette!

Her 50s film Miranda always got overshadowed by Mr Peabody And The Mermaid, but do check it out if you ever get a chance. The rubber fin, made by a British boots factory here, is still pretty remarkable! And of course she looks gorgeous in The Court Jester, which I'm switching around our Wednesday movie night to show in tribute this week.

Well…she also reprised the role a year after Miranda in another comedy, Helter Skelter, which is more of a cameo, and the weird thing was that, despite playing a mermaid named Miranda, Mad About Men, which was in color, isn’t a direct sequel to the first film, since none of the plot points or characters are brought back.

Even Miranda isn’t the same personality she was in the first one, which was directed by Ken Annakin, another Disney connection and perhaps where he first came to Walt's attention). A double feature home video release was careful to promote itself as "a mermaid double feature", not "a Miranda double feature".

I think I saw that at Disneyland last month, unless it was something similar. Cute! But I went for a knit-style Steamboat Wiilie instead. (I know, not Mary-related. I just always get a plushie of some sort when I visit the parks.)
