Sorry, "Specials" don't fit in anymore with our new modern idea of binge-watching--
They came from an old-fashioned era, when everyone in the country would sit down and watch TV on the same night, but nowadays, just try and tell a network to pre-empt their hit corporate network franchise for one night...

(...Er, that didn't come out too bitter toward the modern TV bridges we've burned behind us, did it? )
