I'm so sad about this loss. Joanna Cole was an early spark to my childhood imagination and love for fantasy and sci-fi. Her books were so entertaining as a kid. She will be missed.

Banks has also been attached to the film for over a year. That Collider article is from June 2020, i.e. before the author even died.

Yes, this would be back when Banks was lining up a LOT of vanity projects to write, direct and star, although I'm not quite sure if this was before or after her attempt at Sony's "Charlie's Angels" reboot...Don't feel bad if you don't remember it.

In this case, I suspect Scholastic is on another IP push, which is why we're also getting that weird-looking Clifford movie.
